Hey there, lovebirds! As a wedding photographer, I absolutely adore micro weddings. These intimate celebrations are all about the details, the emotions, and the unique moments that make your day truly special. A micro wedding gives you the flexibility to truly construct the day to be all about your desires. Let me take you through the logistics of a micro wedding and how I capture every beautiful moment that is important to you! Remember this is a wedding specifically tailored to what is important to you.
Guest List: With just 20-40 guests, micro weddings are all about keeping it cozy and personal. You get to spend quality time with each of your guests, making the day even more memorable.
Venue: Whether it’s a charming garden, a serene beach, or your own backyard, the venue should reflect your style and vision. International travel destinations have become very popular for micro weddings. Think your dream wedding with magical details minus the whole production element for having 80 guests. It’s your day, after all!
Ceremony: Personalize your ceremony with unique vows, special readings, and meaningful rituals. This is where the magic happens.
Reception: Some couples go for a traditional reception, while others prefer a laid-back celebration or even an adventurous newlywed shoot. The choice is yours!
Micro weddings are all about intimacy and personalization, making them a perfect choice for couples who want a meaningful celebration with their closest loved ones. As a wedding photographer, I specialize in creating a custom photography timeline that ensures an authentic and memorable experience in front of my lens. Our journey begins with a consultation where we discuss your vision and preferences, followed by a detailed questionnaire to capture all the important details. If you’re planning a destination micro wedding, I can take care of the heavy lifting by scouting the perfect locations, ensuring every moment is beautifully captured in a setting that reflects your unique love story.
As your photographer, my goal is to document every detail and emotion of your special day. Here’s a basic outline:
Wedding Bridal Details: I start by capturing the intricate details of your wedding attire, jewelry, shoes, and other accessories. These shots set the tone for the day and highlight your unique style.
Getting Ready: The excitement and anticipation as you prepare for the big day are priceless. I’ll be there to capture candid moments of hair and makeup for the bride, as well as the groom’s prep. These moments are filled with emotion and make for beautiful memories.
First Look, First Touch, or Intimate Family Portraits: Before the ceremony, some couples choose to have a “first look” where they see each other for the first time in a private moment. Others prefer a “first touch,” where they hold hands or exchange letters without seeing each other. Alternatively, we can capture intimate family portraits, showcasing the love and support of your closest family members.
Ceremony: The ceremony is the heart of your wedding day. I’ll capture the exchange of vows, the ring ceremony, and the first kiss as a married couple. These moments are filled with emotion and are essential to document.
Post-Ceremony: After the ceremony, we can take family portraits and newlywed photos around the venue. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, we can head to the mountains or another scenic location for a stunning newlywed shoot. This is a great opportunity to capture your love and joy in a beautiful setting.
Reception or Adventure Shoot: If you opt for a reception, I’ll document key moments like the first dance, speeches, and cake cutting. For those who prefer an adventure shoot, I’ll capture you exploring a new location, creating stunning and unique images.
Micro weddings are all about celebrating love in a personal and intimate way. With comprehensive photography coverage, every detail and moment is beautifully captured, creating lasting memories. Whether you choose a traditional reception or an adventurous newlywed shoot, your micro wedding will be a day to remember.
As I sit here editing the beautiful wedding of an amazing couple at the iconic Don Cesar on St. Petersburg Beach, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Working on these stunning wedding photographs at one of the most picturesque locations in the world is truly a special opportunity. Documenting their love story is a privilege that I cherish deeply.
Reflecting on this couple and all the couples I have had the honor to photograph over the years fills me with immense gratitude. For over 12 years, and through more than 350 weddings, I have had the distinct honor of capturing very special love stories. Each and every couple is special, unique, and a true privilege to photograph and film.
I want to take a moment to thank all the couples of Rising Lotus Photography and Films. You are my inspiration. Your love stories fuel my passion for this work. Every wedding film is a unique love story and journey.

To quote Jeremy "We love y'all".

As a wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of shooting at many beautiful venues, but Valley View at SFRR, just outside of Gainesville, truly stands out. I have photograph castles and chateaus from around the world, so I don't take that statement lightly. This place knows how to make wedding days a flawless five-star experience for couples getting married. Being a luxury wedding photographer wedding day experience is a huge determination factor for when I refer a wedding venue. Valley View checked all the boxes. Truly a gem. I had my eye on this venue since we moved to Ocala. So when Rabecca Cruz Photography asked if I wanted to join her team for this beautiful wedding I happily packed up my gear to photograph a wedding with one of my best friends.
From the moment you step onto the property, you’re greeted by the most amazing staff whose attention to detail is impeccable. It’s clear that the owner’s passion for this venue shines through in every aspect.
Valley View offers a variety of stunning photography locations that make my job an absolute joy. The flower fields are a vibrant, colorful backdrop that adds a touch of magic to every shot.
And with multiple ceremony locations and reception spaces, each wedding feels unique and personalized.
Whether it’s the grand oak ceremony or the outdoor covered reception viewing the valley, every corner of Valley View is picture-perfect.
The natural beauty of the surroundings combined with the elegant decor creates a timeless and romantic atmosphere that every couple dreams of.
If you’re looking for a venue that will make your wedding day unforgettable and provide endless opportunities for breathtaking photos, Valley View is the place to be.

As a Luxury Ocala Wedding Photographer I share some of my location secrets...
Let’s delve into the artistry of wedding photography and explore how I optimize locations on wedding days for capturing those magical moments. I want to get the most of every location as to not waste time or effort of having to move my wedding couple or wedding party to tons of locations. On wedding days my mind is racing processing a ton of information at one time about lighting, scheduling, experience and anticipating creatively what I am going to do next. BUT also, I"m very much plugged into the experience of my couple. Yes, I am very much focused on a wedding day and rightfully so, I have the honor of capturing couples' legacy of love. As a wedding photographer, the right location becomes canvas waiting to be painted with light, emotions, and memories. I'm going to share some of my valuable tips and tricks to enhance locations on a wedding day and get a multitude of aesthetics in one location.
First and foremost... when choosing the location on a wedding day I am always looking at the quality of light and how I can utilize the light to create the aesthetic of the photograph. Light comes before what the actual location "looks" like... a beautiful backdrop with crappy light will not make a flattering photograph of my subjects. I ALWAYS shoot for putting my couples and subjects in the best light; manipulating the use of light to create the mood of the photograph.
Here are four techniques I use to optimize a wedding location to change the appearance of the photograph once I have selected the location. This goes beyond the technical aspects of utilizing the exposure triangle.
Focal Length Magic:
Wide Lenses (Around 24mm): When I want to showcase the grandeur of the entire scene, opt for a wide-angle lens. It captures the vastness of the location, revealing intricate details. The expansive view at 24mm provides an illustration of the landscape, making it ideal for wide shots telling the story of the day and establishing a narrative.
Top Orlando Wedding Photographer - Bella ColinaWide lens shot at 24 mm to demonstrate area of focus
Telephoto Lenses (85mm or 200mm): To create depth and isolate my subject, I will switch to a telephoto lens. At 85mm or 200mm, I achieve a shallow depth of field, keeping my subjects, often my newlywed couples, in sharp focus while blurring the background. Imagine dreamy portraits against a backdrop that resembles a pop-up book—a perfect blend of intimacy and artistry. I combined this focal length with a wide aperture for some depth of field magic.

Composition Magic:
Rule of Thirds: This classic compositional guideline remains a powerful tool in wedding day storytelling. I divide my frame into a 3x3 grid, and place key elements (like the wedding couple) along the intersecting lines. Off-center compositions add intrigue and draw the viewer’s eye. Having studied artwork, I use some of the greats to inspire my composition.
Top International Wedding PhotographerRule of thirds creates artist interest in this newlywed portrait photographed by Rising Lotus Photography and Films
Artistic Compositions: Break free from conventions! Experiment with angles and perspectives. Capture intricate details—the lace on a wedding dress, the clasping of hands, or the delicate curve of a veil. These close-ups and creative crops tell a story within the larger narrative. A bonus is a creative crop and magically transform photographic distractions from the image.

Light and Shadows:
Quality of Light: Photography is indeed writing with light. Once I have selected my location based on light I observe the quality of light. Soft, diffused light during the golden hour (early morning or late afternoon) creates a warm, romantic mood. Harsh midday sun casts strong shadows—use them creatively. However, on a wedding day I often photograph throughout the day and need to be able to find magical light at any time. Therefore, soft diffuse light can also be found in shaded areas, covered areas/shadows or by using the sun backlight my subject. Utilizing light will immediately affect the style of the imagery and the mood of the photograph. In one location I can find multiple way to utilize the light.
Award Winning Wedding PhotographyThe giant wall create a shadow of diffuse beautiful light for this couple
Natural Reflectors: I"m always looking for surfaces that bounce light back onto my subjects. White walls, concrete, pathways, water, or even a bride’s dress can act as natural reflectors, illuminating faces and adding a soft glow.
Award Winning Wedding PhotographyThe pavement creates a natural reflector for the bride.
Play with Shadows: Shadows aren’t my enemy; they’re my artistic accomplice. I use them to frame your subjects, create patterns, add to a mood of a photograph. Silhouettes against a sunset or dappled light through foliage evoke emotion. I often use strong shadows in my groom portraits to convey strength, mystery and masculinity.

Light Effects: I love using light effects to enhance a photograph. Sun flare, sunglow and haze all can add to the creativity of a photograph. Bokeh is light captured in the background creating different patterns of refraction based on the lens, such as glowing orbs which adds to a magical feel of the image.

Authentic Posing and Action:
Prompt Real Moments: I encourage genuine interactions. I ask the couple to whisper secrets, share a laugh, or steal a kiss. Authenticity shines through.
Ocala wedding Photographer- Rising Lotus Photography & FilmsNewlyweds walk with their son back to wedding venue capturing the interaction.
Dynamic Angles: I move around! Unconventional angles add drama. I'm experimenting with how to get the most out of the location choice without the photographs being redundant and boring. Always while being mindful of what angles is going to be most flattering for my couples and subjects.
Sarasota wedding Photographer- Rising Lotus Photography & FilmsBy utilizing various camera angles I can provide a variety of interesting photographs that make every day tasks special.
Capture the In-Between: Sometimes the magic lies in the fleeting moments—the bride adjusting her veil, the groom wiping away a tear. I'm ready to click during these candid instants. In fact, I often set up the shot for the moment after, the laugh or say something unexpected to get that reaction from my couple. The best wedding day captures are authentic and convey emotion. I truly believe wedding photography and videography are part of the joyful wedding day experience.
Bride and matron of honor sharing a laugh while getting ready to be wedThose moments of shared laughter between bride and her maid of honor at Covington Farms in Dade City
Remember, each wedding location has its unique character AND locations are always changing based on the position of the sun, light sources, weather etc. It's important for me to adapt, improvise, and let my creativity flow.
Now, let’s dive into a wedding day newlywed portrait example to illustrate these principles:
Golden Hour Romance:
During the golden hour, when the sunbathes everything in warm hues, find a picturesque spot. Imagine the bride and groom standing on a hill, the veil catching the gentle breeze. I may use a wide-angle lens to capture the rolling landscape, the soft glow on their faces, and the love in their eyes playing with the sun-flare between them.
Intimate Details:
Then I may zoom in on the intricate details—the lace on the wedding dress, the delicate embroidery on the veil, or the intertwined fingers of the couple. A telephoto lens at 85mm or 200mm will create a dreamy soft and creamy background, emphasizing the love story unfolding.
Shadows and Silhouettes:
Then I may move a semi-circle around the newlyweds playing with shadows and side light creating a delicate rim light behind them for a moody portrait. Then change some settings to position the couple against a colorful sky, creating silhouettes. Their embrace, the curve of her back, and the outline of his suit—all become part of the narrative. Shadows add depth and mystery.
Candid Moments:
All the while I am capturing the unscripted moments- those moments in between—the laughter shared between the couple, the stolen kiss of squeeze of the butt. These candid shots reveal raw emotions between the couple.
(Hire me to photograph your wedding on the cliffs of Ireland I already have the game plan laid out above for you!)

Remember, the magic lies not only in the location but also in vision for the location. I hope this helps couples understand a little about the creative process or spark some new ideas for my fellow wedding photographers. Thanks for letting me nerd out about light, one of my favorite subjects.

Let's talk hybrid photography! First, what exactly is this buzz word (as it relates to weddings)? It is a photography style that blends film and digital. And is practiced by those (hopefully) who has the ability, skill, and know-how to shoot dual photography types.
Now, for people who aren't professional photographers, you may think this phrase can be used like a blanket on all wedding photographers. But I assure you that the skill sets are different. The outcome is different. And the pros and cons to either medium are quite vast. It is important to me that couples understand that not everyone can or will shoot both mediums. And that is OK! You hire your photographer for their skill- both technically and creatively and let's face it- personality, service and sometimes price too! Being informed about that decision is very important. Do you want a photographer who takes portraits and poses? Or candid, photojournalistic shots? Someone who blends into the crowd, or someone who is by your side most of the night? Natural light or artificial (flash)? These are important questions to ask because they will help you identify the best photographer for you and the medium they use to capture your special day!
Rising Lotus Photography chooses to blend the two skills and styles at each event so that you have the minty pastel color & detail that film offers, and the speed and efficiency that digital offers. We love integrating film photography to our couture wedding collections because this classic, timeless, beautiful photography will remain stunning for years to come. It is one of the best ways to ensure that we capture the essence and beauty of a couple on their very special day (film is an extremely thoughtful process that really makes us stay in the moment). By using both mediums, we're also able to capture moments regardless of the lighting. Because film isn't a great option for after dark or low-light spaces! We are very selective on when we use film. It creates some of the most beautiful and ethereal photographs and we believe that you’re at your best together, so we save [most of] the magic for newlywed portraits during golden hour.
There are various film cameras that are used for wedding photography. I use a medium-format Pentax 645 NII, a vintage camera. I can get about 12 frames per roll- so I'll usually go through at least 1-3 rolls per wedding when I'm shooting hybrid. That's not to say that is an exact number, but a fairly good average for my film add-on. I also have the option to add-on 35mm which, is going to be a little grainer, less detailed and reminds me of 1980's photography. As for digital, I'm a Canon girl!
So, all that said, we want to leave you with just a couple things to consider when selecting a film, digital, or hybrid photographer:
Film is an added expense to the studio. In most cases, this isn’t an overt or line-item expense that you are made aware of. However, most film and hybrid photographers are more expensive than strictly digital for this reason!
It takes additional time to process film. Most film and hybrid photographers leave the processing to dedicated professionals (because having a personal darkroom isn’t so easy these days). Which mean that we have to wait! Even if we have all of the digital images edited, we may still have a couple weeks before having our film scans back. So that requires a bit of added patience for everyone. We promise it’s worth it!
Film is a lost art requiring specific knowledge on the use of light. As mentioned above, film doesn’t work for every moment or occasion. Having an understanding of light is paramount in film success. Which also means timing is everything. If film photography is important to you, consult with your photographer regarding the wedding location and timeline to ensure you have taken everything into consideration for optimal results.
I hope that this has helped clear up any confusion you had regarding film or hybrid photography! We truly feel that hybrid photography captures the best of both worlds, and your wedding day deserves that! Below are a couple of film photos for comparison! And of course, if you have ANY questions, I’m only a phone call or email away!

As the sun kisses the Spanish moss-draped oaks, love stories unfold against the backdrop of Ocala’s rolling hills. As an Ocala premier wedding photographer, I’ve had the honor of capturing these moments across the world—each frame a testament to love, vulnerability, and dreams woven together. The following are the top five tips for brides (and photographers) to document the BEST bridal portraits.
Before the ceremony, there’s a sacred window—a brief interlude where it’s just the bride and her thoughts. Ten to fifteen minutes of solitude. No distractions, no prying eyes. Just her, the anticipation, and the soft click of my camera. This is her time to breathe, to feel the weight of the gown, and to embrace the significance of the day. It’s a moment that transcends time—a quiet storm of emotions.
Lighting—we photographers chase it like poets chase words. During bridal portraits, we wield light as our brush, painting moods and memories. The golden hour, that magical time just before sunset, bathes everything in a warm, honeyed glow. It’s when love shines brightest. Whether it’s a soft, romantic silhouette or a bold, dramatic contrast, lighting sets the stage for each photograph. We dance with shadows, weave magic, and capture the essence of love.
To the bride: This is your princess moment. Forget the crowd, the expectations, and the “shoulds.” Be authentically you. If you’re silly, twirl in your gown like no one’s watching. If you’re serious, channel your inner Vogue model. There’s no script—just you, raw and beautiful. These candid shots—the ones where you laugh, where your eyes meet your partner’s—are the heart of your love story.
Bridal portraits don’t adhere to rules. They’re not cookie-cutter. Your love isn’t, so why should your photos be? Forget the stiff poses. Instead, let’s capture the stolen glances, the whispered secrets, and the way your fingers intertwine. Be rebels in love. Climb hills, dance in meadows, and let the wind play with your veil. These are the moments that defy convention and etch themselves into eternity.
Consider a separate bridal photography session before your wedding day. Picture this: You, radiant in your gown, hair cascading like a waterfall. We explore different looks, different locations. Want to wade into a creek or stand on a cliff? Let’s do it! With more time, we can create magic. It’s a dress rehearsal for your love story—a chance to be both timeless and daring.
As an Ocala wedding photographer and videographer team, Jeremy and I have chased sunsets in Santorini, danced in the streets of Rome, and witnessed vows exchanged in red canyons of Arizona while working with some remarkable couples. Love knows no borders, and neither do we. Let’s tell your story—one frame at a time.
Are you ready to embrace your bridal goddess within? Let’s create magic together.

As an Ocala wedding photographer with over a decade of experience, I've got my lens focused on the hottest wedding photography trends of 2024.
In the whimsical world of wedding photography, the times are a-changin'! Gone are the days of rigid, rule-abiding snapshots. Now, it's all about tossing that rulebook out the window and embracing the wild side of creativity. Who needs a "perfect" wedding photo when you can capture the raw emotion and the unique vibe of the day? It's like everyone's finally realized that a little bit of rule-breaking can lead to some seriously epic wedding memories.
Let's snap to it!
Trends Worth Noting
1. **Color Me Vibrant**: Wave goodbye to those washed-out photos because vibrant colors are going to be front and center as the main character! It's like our cameras just had a color explosion, and I'm here for it. Just as wedding color palettes are going vibrant so will the photographs.

2. **Flashy Business**: Remember when direct flash was all the rage? Well, now we're upping the ante with off-camera flash that'll make those reception photos pop like a 90's mixtape. Get ready for some serious flash dance moves!

3. **Natural Beauty**: Orange you glad we're moving away from those orange tones? Finally, orange skin reminds me of our Covid years. This year, it's all about creamy skin tones with a hint of blue shadows. It's like Mother Nature herself is doing the makeup.

4. **Motion Emotion**: The blur is here to stay, folks! But we're not talking about accidental blurry pics—oh no, Or the accidental aperture priority infamous blurred detail photos- let's see those blurry ring photos go buh-bye. We're talking about capturing the whirl of a dress or the twirl of a dance with purposeful motion blur for enhanced storytelling. It's like a waltz for your eyes.

5. **Drone Drama**: And here's the buzz—drones are taking wedding photography to new heights! Imagine aerial shots of your special day, giving you and your guests the superstar treatment.

Wedding Photography Trend Warning
-1. **Crooked Horizon lines**: Ah, the crooked horizon line in wedding photography, the trend that's been tilting heads and causing furrowed brows across the bridal world. We saw it 15 years ago and it's rearing the nightmarish head again. It's like the photographers are saying, "Let's take this symbol of stability and just give it a little nudge." Sure, it's edgy, it's different, and yes, it's been used in Hollywood to make audiences feel like they're on a boat in a stormy sea. But when it comes to capturing the blissful stability of matrimony, can we really get behind a trend that screams "Hold on tight, it's going to be a bumpy ride"? I think not! So let's straighten out those horizons and keep the unease for the thriller flicks, shall we?
-2. **Panty Hose**: Oh, weddings! A time of joy, love, and some truly questionable photography trends. Let's talk about one that really takes the (wedding) cake: shooting through panty hose. Yes, you read that right. The quest to find the most bizarre objects to shoot through in hopes of achieving that *unique* shot. But let's be real, there's a fine line between unique and just plain weird.
Imagine this: You're at a beautiful ceremony, and the photographer whips out a pair of panty hose, stretches them over the lens, and starts snapping away. The guests are confused, the couple is bewildered, and the results? Well, they're as fuzzy as your uncle's recollection of the '70s.
-3. **Table Race** The latest wedding photography fad has hit big on Tik-Tok is the newlyweds race to capture every table. Picture this: the bride and groom sprinting from table to table, trying to snap a photo with every table of guests. But let's be real, the only thing racing is the couple's heart rate. Why don't we ever see these photos? It's always JUST the race to the tables. Because they're awkward! Not everyone makes it into the photograph, if they do, they are floating heads at the back of the table, you've got half-eaten dinner photobombing, and let's not even talk about those unflattering side angles of Uncle Bob mid-chew. It's a trend that should be left at the starting line or call it what it is a great TikTok video.
I love playing with trends as much as the next shutterbug, but remember, folks: it's all about capturing those timeless moments that'll make you smile, laugh, or shed a happy tear even decades down the line. So let's make some memories that'll outlast any trend! Most importantly I want my couples to LOVE their wedding photographs. If I have a bride say I want a crooked table race photograph shot with panty hose... I"m in.

Are you tired of the same old wedding traditions? Do you dream of a wedding day that truly reflects your unique love story? As a passionate photographer, I’m here to tell you that breaking away from the norm can lead to unforgettable moments and captivating memories. Let’s explore how you can infuse creativity and personality into your special day! Here are some real-life examples of weddings that infused creativity and personality into their day!
1. EMBRACE YOUR QUIRKS
Your wedding should be a reflection of you—your quirks, passions, and individuality. Don’t shy away from unconventional choices. Instead, embrace them! Here are some delightful examples:
Imagine a wedding where wands replace bouquets, robes replace suits, and a sorting hat ceremony seals your vows. The enchantment of a Harry Potter-themed wedding is irresistible. Capture the magic through your lens as love intertwines with wizardry.
For the daring souls, consider exchanging vows in a haunted mansion. Surrounded by eerie decorations and guests in elaborate costumes, your love story becomes a gothic fairy tale. The shadows and candlelight create an otherworldly ambiance.
Who says love can’t bloom in unexpected places? Picture a couple declaring their commitment in a sun-kissed cow pasture. The gentle mooing of cows and the rustling of grass provide a rustic backdrop. It’s a love story straight from the heart, unfiltered and genuine.
Couples who want to embrace the island attitude of "no problem man" on their wedding day. A rustic tiki bar adorned with seashells, fairy lights, and tropical flowers. Bartenders mix exotic cocktails—pineapple-infused mojitos, coconut daiquiris, and passionfruit margaritas. Guests sip from coconuts and laugh under the star-studded sky. Shoes? Who needs 'em! Kick off those heels, ditch the dress shoes. Your dance floor is the soft sand. Feel the earth beneath your feet as you sway to reggae beats and calypso rhythms. Barefoot and carefree, you and your guests groove like island spirits.
Gamer couples, rejoice! Incorporate your love for video games into your wedding. Set up a custom-made arcade, decorate with pixel art, and groove to game-inspired music. Your wedding becomes a level-up moment in your epic adventure together.
Pets are family, and they deserve a front-row seat at your wedding. Imagine your loyal dog or curious cat donning a tiny tuxedo or a floral collar. We have a 4K collar video camera to capture the ceremony and cocktail hour from your dog's perspective. Capture their joy as they witness your union. And don’t forget the pet-friendly cake—it’s a paw-sitively sweet touch! Being from Ocala, Florida we have tons of equestrian weddings that involved our couples favorite horses. Bride can come down the aisle riding her horse and we can photograph the couple with the horses during newlyweds.
As a photographer, my lens seeks out the extraordinary. I’ll be there to capture every laugh, tear, and unexpected twist. Whether it’s the glow of a wand, the misty corridors of a mansion, or the playful nuzzles of farm animals, your love story will unfold beautifully. I truly believe that authentic amazing wedding experiences lead to the BEST photographs. Every wedding is unique thus how I photograph each day will be special and unique.
If you’re ready to break free from tradition, I’m your lady. Let’s create a visual symphony that celebrates your love, no matter how unconventional or quirky. Together, we’ll turn your wedding day into a creative masterpiece—one that reflects your heart, soul, and the magic of your unique journey.
Remember: Tradition is a guide, but love is the compass.

Nestled on 75 rolling green acres, Covington Farm is more than just a venue—it’s a canvas where love stories come alive. As the sun dances through the moss-hung branches of ancient oaks, Hannah and Gunnar’s wedding unfolded against a backdrop that whispered tales of Old Florida charm.
Covington Farm, situated on the shores of Buddy Lake and Lake Pasadena, exudes tranquility. The pastures stretch out like a lush green carpet, inviting guests to wander and explore. And there, in the heart of Dade City, Florida, this hidden gem awaits, just a short drive from major hotels.
Under the majestic oaks, the lakeside ceremony site awaits. Antique doors swing open, revealing a paver-lined aisle that leads to a rustic wooden arbor. Wooden padded chairs stand ready, each one a seat for a witness to love’s promise. The air is thick with anticipation as Hannah and Gunnar step into their forever.
After the vows are exchanged, the newlyweds venture to the lakeside, where the water mirrors their joy. The oaks, guardians of secrets and stories, frame their first moments as husband and wife. And up on the hill, in the hayfield, they steal kisses against a golden sunset. As a photographer, I chase these fleeting seconds, preserving them in pixels and memories.
While Hannah and Gunnar pose for timeless newlywed portraits, their guests gather for cocktail hour. Here, an antique bar beckons, wooden spools transform into cozy seating, and antique church pews hold whispered conversations. The fire pit crackles behind the barn, casting a warm glow. And yes, there’s a discreet, air-conditioned restroom—because comfort matters.
As the sun dips low, guests are led to the front of the modern barn. The massive doors swing open, revealing an elegant reception area. Crystal chandeliers hang from the rafters, casting a soft glow on the dance floor. The air hums with laughter and music, and Hannah and Gunnar step into a room transformed—a celebration of love, family, and new beginnings.
Covington Farm—weaving dreams into reality, one love story at a time. Hannah and Gunnar, may your journey be as timeless as the oaks that witnessed your vows.

We love working on wedding teasers for our couples. Arina and Brandon had so many heartfelt and amazing elements to their wedding day. From their emotional personal vows during their first look to Arina's epic ceremony entrance for the ceremony. Jeremy puts in hours upon hours of work curating the footage, creating a mini storyline and then editing for a compelling…. Jaw dropping cinematography trailer that showcases our couples and the day. From sound engineering to color grading to adding special effects and transitions. His goal was to capture the romance and elegance of the day.
This creative process is all consuming. We love working together and bouncing creative ideas to see what translates the best. Every wedding is different and it’s our creative goal to illustrate that in both photo and video. Every couple is unique. Hope you enjoy this romantic. Epic.

An Artistic Celebration with a Western Flare
When Katie and Kevin contacted us to be their wedding photographer and videographer, we were thrilled to hear that they had chosen the James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art as their venue. The James Museum, located in the heart of downtown St Petersburg, is a stunning space that showcases the rich and diverse heritage of the American West and the beauty of wildlife from around the world We knew that this would be a perfect backdrop for their unique and artistic wedding.
The couple wanted their wedding to reflect their personality and style, so they chose a color palette of rust, terracotta and teal, which complemented the warm tones and textures of the museum. They also added some personal touches, such as pearl necklaces, Kevin's mullet and their light up sign. Their wedding planner, Lauren from MDP Events, did an amazing job of bringing their vision to life and coordinating all the details.
The ceremony took place in the lobby of the museum, where the guests were surrounded by impressive sculptures and water feature. Katie and Kevin exchanged their vows under a beautiful arch decorated with pampas grass and western inspired flowers. The bride looked stunning in her lace gown, while the groom rocked a custom brow suit and a rust-colored tie. Their wedding party, dressed in terracotta, teal accent flowers added a pop of color to the scene.
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the galleries, where they could admire the artworks and mingle with each other. We loved how the natural light and the unique backgrounds created some amazing shots of the museum. We went on a tour of the museum stopping for photographs with Katie and Kevin at their favorite pieces.
The reception was held in the main hall of the museum, where the tables were set with elegant linens, wicker chargers, and terracotta napkins. The centerpieces featured a mix of fresh flowers, gold candles, and geometric modern table numbers. The cake was a two-tiered masterpiece, decorated with beautiful florals. The band, Bay Kings, rocked out the reception with their live music and kept the dance floor packed all night. The guests also had fun with the photo booth, where they could pose with props and take home some memories.
We had a blast documenting Katie and Kevin's wedding at the James Museum. They are an amazing couple and it was truly an honor to photograph their wedding. We wish them all the best in their future together. Thank you for choosing us as your wedding photographer and videographer!

The First Look (or The Reveal) is when couples opt to see each other prior to their wedding ceremony rather than wait for the moment when the bride walks down the aisle. It’s a trend that has gained popularity in recent years, one that stirs up strong opinions about whether it’s a good or bad idea. While some photographers strongly encourage first looks, at Rising Lotus we leave it up to the couple’s discretion. We’ve compiled a list of things to consider so you and your fiancé can make an informed choice as to what’s right for your wedding day experience.
The Benefits of a First Look
Privacy. Wedding days are a beautiful whirlwind of energy, emotion, personalities and timelines. Doing a first look allows you to sneak off with your spouse-to-be and enjoy some quiet moments alone. You’ll have the opportunity to hug, kiss, exchange gifts or love notes and be present with each other before the festivities begin. This is your opportunity to have a special time together. Any hint of nervousness can be soothed away before the ceremony starts.
Location. You have the option to choose the setting for the first look and that creative freedom can make for beautiful portraits of you and your groom when you plan it out with your photographer.
You’ll get to enjoy cocktail hour with guests. One of the big reasons couples choose to do a first look is that they’ll be free to go straight to the cocktail hour after the ceremony and mingle with their guests.
More time for portraits. Depending on how much time you’ve carved out for the first look, you can opt to have photographs taken at various locations, resulting in a richer collection of images. All formal family portraits can also be completed prior to the ceremony without being pressed for time. If you choose to do portraits after the ceremony and depending on the length of your cocktail hour, you may only have forty minutes to an hour to complete formal family portraits (on both sides) along with your newlywed photos. The commute to the reception venue also factors into how much time you have for post-ceremony portraits.
You and your fiancé have a large immediate family and/or bridal party. Piggybacking off of the previous point, the more people that need to be included in the formal portraits, the more time your photographer will require to organize and photograph each grouping. You can schedule the first look so that there’s ample time for family and wedding party portraits prior to the ceremony.
Everyone looks their best during the earlier part of the wedding day. There’s no better time to take pictures than when hair and makeup has been freshly done and clothes look pristine. This is especially true for your wedding party and immediate family members, many of whom do not have a makeup artist on hand to do touch-ups nor access to a dressing room to freshen up before photos taken post-ceremony. By choosing to do portraits before your ceremony there’s a better chance that everyone will look great and be more focused (aka sober).
Loss of daylight. If your wedding takes place during the winter months when the sun sets earlier, you may want to consider doing a first look if you love the look of natural light. The First Look provides you with the opportunity to get those magical shots before the ceremony. Discuss this with your photographer beforehand to determine if you’d be okay with the use of artificial light and how he/she approaches photography in low light settings.
Reasons Why a First Look Might Not Be Right For you
Tradition is important to you. If you or your fiancé have you hearts set on seeing each for the first time as you walk down the aisle, then do what feels right. Discuss your plans with your photographer so that if there any logistical issues (usually time related) you’ll have a plan in place and realistic expectations. The bride and groom may opt to do a first touch instead where they each stand on opposite sides of a wall or door and hold hands, say a prayer or exchange a gift all without seeing one another.
The pressure to create the “perfect” moment. Thanks to Pinterest and wedding blogs, there can be an expectation for the first look to be a grand, emotionally expressive moment. Many couples have a quieter way of moving through the world and may feel like they’re “doing it wrong” if they aren’t reduced to tears during the first look. Remember, it’s your wedding day not someone else’s.
You will have to get ready earlier. While a first look is a great idea for making the timeline easier, it results in certain events starting at an earlier point in the day. The bride and groom will have to wake up earlier. Hair and makeup have to be done earlier, the wedding party and family members have to arrive and be fully dressed earlier in the day. This may lead to the day feeling longer.
Your wedding gown could get dirty. If you want your wedding dress to be in absolute perfect condition when you walk down the aisle, then a first look might not be for you especially if you’re considering taking photos in a garden, along a beach or anywhere outdoors.
You perceive it to be a scripted moment. If doing a first look doesn’t feel authentic to you then don’t do it. It’s your wedding day and it should be true reflection of who you and your groom are as a couple.
There is no right or wrong choice, just the best choice for you and your particular circumstances. A good photographer will work with you to make the best of the allotted time and capture every moment beautifully no matter how long or fleeting it may be.
Kayla and Nate's wedding trailer has so many feels! This couple is truly amazing... passionate, fun and perfect for each other! Every wedding is different and unique. Thus, we get to know each couple leading up to their wedding day. We carefully craft a wedding photo and video timeline to provide moments of authentic joy. In addition, we allow what happens during a wedding day to occur naturally where photo/video become part of the joyful day wedding experience. Kayla and Nate choose to write love letters. Which we love because it gives us amazing content for their wedding film. Their voices become part of the audio storyline. When capturing Kayla reading Nate's love letter to her... she broke down. We knew this was going to be a moment full of emotion and amazing for their wedding film. We did ask our beautiful bride permission to include this in her trailer.... she did ask us to cut. These authentic moments are to be cherished for a lifetime and become part of our couple's legacy. For Kayla and Nate not only did we know we had to capture the softer side of their romance.... but the FUN and WILD side of their wedding day! We had to include the fireman helmets! Wedding cinematography is crafting a wedding day movie that is unique and special to the couple using authentic moments and genuine emotion.
Thank you so very much Stephanie Rainey for giving us written permission to use your song "Simply the Best" for this video. Your song gives me goosebumps every time and was Kayla and Nate’s first dance.

BEAUTIFUL intimate wedding on St. Pete Beach. Olesia and Nick are such a vibrant and amazing couple. Their love for volleyball made it easy to pick their wedding location.... one of their favorite spots to hit the courts on the beach at Postcard Inn, St. Petersburg Beach, Florida.
Throughout my career there have been a handful of beach sunsets that have truly been epic. Not every sunset is created equal.... but this evening was truly beautiful. The colors were soft and vibrant. The light was simply magical and created beautiful light for not only their ceremony but their newlywed photos afterwards. It was like photographing a beach fairytale with these two! Nicks humor and Olesia's grace had us begging for more time. We created a wedding short film for their ceremony and newlyweds. Using drone to tell the story of their love with wedding cinematography.
Rising Lotus Photography and Films work with every couple to capture the unique essence of their wedding day. It's important for us that the personality and what makes the couple special is translated into their photography gallery and films. We spend hours developing a custom photography/video timeline and creative shot list. Incorporating special details throughout the entire day.... truly a couture experience!
Capturing Mercy and Cole's love was truly an honor. They are such a special couple! We had a blast getting to know them throughout the planning process and capturing the special moments throughout their big day! We used Mother Nature for our favor.... not getting discouraged with the daylong downpour but using it to create epic moments to forever be cherished.
Let your unique love story be told.

Congratulations on your engagement! This is an exciting time but it can also get a bit stressful as you piece together all the people, places and things that make your wedding day ideas a reality. We’ve compiled a short list of suggestions to help make choosing your perfect photographer easier.
Which factors motivate your decision?
There’s a photographer for every price point, preference and personality. When you determine the factors that most influence your decision-making and how important photography is for you, then your options become more clear. Consider things such as: photography services offered, artistry, client care, wedding day experience, area of specialty and experience, your photography investment and how important they are to you as you search for your photographer.
Look for the right match
Now you may be thinking, “Well, that’s obvious.” But hang on a second. You see, some people subscribe to the theory that a photographer is a photographer is a photographer; just pick one and you’ll be fine. That’s like saying a Ferrari and a Camry are both cars. While that statement is technically correct, both cars fit entirely different needs and wants. A car buyer with a family may be wowed by a Ferrari but it will never be a good fit (literally) for transporting a family of four. And the person who’s eyeing a Ferrari will never be swayed by the Camry’ fuel mileage and other practical features. So how does all this car talk relate to hiring a wedding photographer?
As you research a photographer and look through their portfolio, website, and social media accounts, be mindful of the following: Are you drawn to their work and is his/her approach to wedding photography a good fit for the way you envision your wedding day unfolding? For instance, if you’re getting married on a beach but the photographer you adore has gallery after gallery of ballroom weddings on their website, then you need to address that with the photographer. Perhaps you’ve decided you want un-posed photographs without realizing that your favorite photographer actually directs her subjects into seemingly candid scenarios...now what? The point is to look for a photographer that’s a great overall match for what you like and the wedding you’re planning.
Schedule a meeting
You are entrusting your photographer with the responsibility of documenting one of the most important days in your life and you’ll likely spend a significant amount of time with them during your wedding day. So it’s important that you like and trust the person you’ve chosen to work with. If you’re not comfortable with him or her it will detract from your experience. It also becomes more challenging for a photographer to capture genuine emotion when a client feels guarded, making it a chore for everyone involved. Set up a meeting (in-person, Skype or over the phone), get to know the person behind the lens, how they work and let them get to know you and your fiancé. If you’ve reached out to a multi-shooter studio, make sure you get the chance to meet the person who will actually photograph your wedding.
Communicate your expectations early on
Discuss your expectations so there’s a clear understanding of what you’re looking for and what the photographer can realistically deliver. This covers a wide range of topics such as: services offered, printed products, contracts, payment, production timeline etc. When all parties agree on what to expect, a lot of misunderstandings are avoided and we have a recipe for happy wedding clients!
Finally, trust yourself and enjoy the process. Most wedding photographers want you to have a wonderful experience and give you images that you will treasure forever. Professional wedding photographers are experts in our field and have great insight into custom timeline development, photographs shot lists, wedding details and flexibility. They will have the best ideas for the locations with magical light that highlight you as a couple. Good luck with your wedding planning and please come back for more wedding photography tips!

GETTING TO KNOW ME
Rising Lotus Photography Owner: Marilyn
Taking readers behind the lens just a little further, I wanted to give you a sneak peek into my life, and the journey that brought me here. For every time I pick of a camera I am giving all of me; my clients deserve to know what drives my passion for photography.
MY GRATITUDE:
First, I am so very grateful for all the amazing people that have supported, challenged, and loved me. As I share with you some of life's influences that make me a better photographer and some quirky fun facts; I want to be sure to thank all those that were part of my life's story. Thank you.
MY PASSION:
Since I was little I was always fascinated with photographs. I remember being five years old and sneaking down at six o'clock in the morning at my grandmother's house to see the family albums. I was captivated by how a photograph could tell a whole story in a single image. Photography has been a part of my life ever since. I believe photography has the power to document life's most amazing memories which is why I'm honored to be a wedding photographer. I write love stories with light.... To be honest, I am obsessed with natural light and the challenge of finding beautiful light for my subjects.
MY GUIDE:
My biggest role model, spiritual teacher, photography enthusiast, and the most cherished person in my life is my Mom. I miss her dearly and feel very close to her every time I pick up a camera. She taught me mindfulness and to embrace the beauty of the moment. Through her artwork she illustrated the concept of impermanence, how the world is constantly changing. I learned to appreciate a moment captured on film, that moment which never existed before and will never exist again. She would always tell me I could do anything I set my mind to and supported my search for happiness with unconditional love. Her legacy lives on through me.
MY FIRST LOVE:
The first time I rode a horse I was nine years old on a family trip. From that moment I became obsessed with riding and learning more about these beautiful animals. As soon as I got my driver's license, I drove 50 minutes to beg for a job at Maybury Riding Stables. I started off cleaning stalls, grooming horses, and helping around the barn. I eventually worked my way up to Senior trail guide, and trained horses that were new to the barn. The first day on the job I broke my toe when it was stepped on by a draft horse named Angel... seriously one of the best days of my teens, broken toe and all. The experience taught me the importance of being passionate about my work. That in order to do something I loved it would take a tremendous amount of effort, perseverance and determination.
MY EMPATHY:
My love for horses continues and I have became very involved with helping to rehabilitate rescue horses. I volunteered to train and provide the needed care for these resilient animals. I wish I could say I was there to help them but honestly I learn so much about survival, compassion and spirituality from the horses. I learned the art of being present for another beings experience. I adopted Skippy, a rescued mare whom suffered a traumatic brain injury, facial paralysis and had a fractured skull. The recovery process involved a multifaceted continuum of care and intense retraining over the course of two years which challenged my empathetic nature and gave me many opportunities for my insight and empathetic awareness to grow. This awareness I use to connect with my clients and channel the emotions of the events I document.
MY EMPOWERMENT:
I dedicated eight years right after college to trauma informed care non-profit work, empowering women and supporting healing. I am so grateful for the amazing people I met during that time and truly am honored for to bear witness to the beautiful transformation of healing from trauma that occurs in peoples lives. This work gave me an understanding of human suffering but with it a deep appreciation for love in it's many forms. Also, it gave me the opportunity to heal myself. I had some amazing experiences which profoundly affected my perception of what is important in this lifetime. I learned about the grace of the human heart. Through this work I determined how truly important it is to embrace the joy in our lives and the awe inspiring nature of love.
MY HEART:
I came to the realization to fully document and honor another persons most joyful experiences and sacred life events I had to truly live my life to the fullest. I couldn't hide behind a camera but I had to embrace life fully to understand the magnitude and power of the joyful moments I capture. To be a better artist and photojournalist I had to LIVE. Thus, I searched for experiences that bring "light" to my mind, body and soul. My love for music has pushed me to learn to line dance and country swing dance. Life is a celebration!
MY EPIC LOVE:
Through this journey of finding adventure in the simple moments I fell in love with a man who encourages and supports me to go outside my comfort zone. His zest for life gave me the encouragement to take voice lessons and sing with him (facing one of my biggest fears). But more than anything everyday he gives me a deeper understanding of what it is to truly be loved and to love. Thus providing me a deeper knowledge for the love my clients share and the power of a magnetic connection between two people which I have the honor to capture with my camera.
SOME TIDBITS & FUN FACTS:
1. In addition to Skippy, I also have a cute little rescue dog named Sugar Plum.
2. I dislike making left hand turns and will make three right hand turns before I have to make a left.
3. I have been skydiving 12 times.
4. My favorite accessory is cowboy boots.
5. My wedding and engagement photography has been featured in over 125 publications across the world.
6. I may have a slight obsession with baby goat YouTube videos. Wimpy Goat and Goat What What are two of my favorites.
7. My bucket list to travel is forever increasing; I would love to photograph weddings in Switzerland, Ireland and Australia. For when I am behind my camera I fully experience the magnitude of where I am visiting.
8. I might be known to have popcorn for dinner.
9. When I get excited I spontaneously break into a happy dance.
10. I was born and raised right outside of Detroit, Michigan. Therefore being a hockey fan is basically in my blood.
11. I was a competitive swimmer in grade school and college, traveling throughout the U.S and Canada.
12. I have meditated with Deepak Chopra, listen to Desmond Tutu speak live and swam with sea turtles.
I wanted to give a HUGE shout out to Stephanie Smith, Asha Lea and Rick Lewis my photography mentors and friends. Their guidance and support has helped me to achieve my dreams and explore my passion. I adore these photographers, from the beginning they have been my cheerleaders, always reminding me what is possible.
Thanks so much for taking the time to learn a little more about me and some of what fuels the passion for my work. Hopefully I get the opportunity to learn about your love story!

This post is specifically for men needing advice and help on how to propose to their lady while having the moment captured by a professional photographer. Please note we are aware this may seem a little non-PC. But let’s face it, heterosexual men need a little more guidance in this area.
Guys, I’m going to try to keep this as simple and direct as possible. Bare with me while I try to explain one of the most romantic and important moments in a women’s life in my best dude talk.
Basically, your woman has already fantasied and envisioned your proposal. No pressure here guys, but she’s most likely has been drooling over engagement rings. It is your job as a man to exceed her expectations! Take a deep breath, you won her heart now it’s time to give her an experience that is once in a lifetime.
1. Pick a location that is meaningful to her, to your relationship or is just kind of mind blowing. This is her Super Bowl with her favorite team- YOU. She probably has been giving you hints on where she wants to go, locations that she finds special or her bucket list spots. Be smart about this- she may want to go paintballing but that isn't where she wants you to pop the question. She will be telling all her friends, family and even her hair dresser how this went down. Give her a place that sets the mood and makes you sound amazing.
2. Yes, she will want this professionally photographed. Have you seen her Facebook page and Instagram... it’s full of photos of the two of you. She is proud to be your woman and wants to share how awesome you are together. This is probably the most important life event for her to date. She will want it captured beautifully, she will cherish the photographs for the rest of her life and gives her the opportunity to brag about what an amazing man you are. BOOM!
3. Plan the proposal- this is your playbook. This will help ease any anxiety you have and ensure the proposal goes smoothly. Don’t worry, as your photographer I’ve helped many men plan their proposals. I will help guide you on location, best time for light, logistics of where to drop on your knee (it's the left knee), timeline and even on what to wear.
4. She will want to look her best. So don’t blindside her while she is in her jeans from high school and her hair is in a messy bun. It’s ok to get some help from her best friend, sister or mom … she will want manicured nails. For she will want to show off that ring! Let her know it’s a date or a special outing. Or plan around an occasion you know she will be dressed up. Maybe treat her to a spa day with professional hair and makeup included. Or take her for a shopping trip before so she has that special outfit already. Now you are cooking with gas.
5. Be her Superman. Look great too! Now is not the time to be comfortable or sloppy or wear socks with sandals.
6. Don’t forget the details. I’m telling you those romantic details will make your proposal her “magical movie moment”. You want to see that smile, the one that stole your heart. Think about a custom playlist, or play your song. Add romantic touches like flowers, a message in a bottle, pictures of the two of you, an amazing date planned before or after. Maybe it’s the sunset or her favorite band or a glass of her favorite wine? Is it dancing under the stars, kissing on the beach or walking through a garden filled with her favorite flowers? What will create an experience for her? This is where you can blow her mind, make her swoon and surprise her. Leave her with the only word she can say is HECK YES!
7. Have a backup plan. You are the MAN! But you don't have super powers to control the weather or fly her to another location.
8. Try not to drop the ball by giving hints, acting like a weirdo or arousing suspicion by being different. Not to make you nervous, but us women, we have a keen sense when it comes to our man.
You are asking your woman a very important question... plan accordingly, get help when needed and make it special. Remember when everything is said and done she loves you and can’t wait to be yours.
You got this!
Oh, one last thing. if you are reading this and have a great proposal story drop it in the comments. Let’s spread some more helpful ideas!
Choosing Your Location: Remember the location you choose is going to have a huge impact on the time of day the shoot will be scheduled, the vibe of the session and the overall atheistic of how you will be photographed. Don't panic, as a professional photographer I am here to guide you on the pros and cons of various locations and help your creative ideas come to life!
Special for you: When thinking about your session it might be helpful to first determine if there are any locations special to you, reflect who you are as a couple or significant in your relationship. Some couples love the idea of their engagement session being at the location of where they met, first date or one of their favorite shared experiences together- a local park, cute bistro, drive-in movie theatre, local entertainment and bar hotspot, coffee shop, the college at which they met or a special part of town significant to their relationship. Other couples want the engagement session to be a reflection of their shared interests.
The sky is the limit! Think outside the box when considering locations. The outdoor adventure couples might choose the woods where they hike or the state park at which they canoe. The couple that enjoys spending weekends together at the beach relaxing might opt for their favorite beach location to get their toes in the sand. A musical couple might want to consider their favorite outdoor jam spot or their favorite open mic location. Maybe the local horse farm, llama farm or that place that does goat yoga!
What to wear: Once your location is determined now it's time to select your attire- which matters. When styling an engagement session there are several factors to consider such as the weather, specifically the temperature, your unique style and also general tone of the session. Keep in mind locations don't have to determine the style of a session, sometimes the juxtaposition of formal or cocktail attire at a rustic location makes for beautiful photographs. For example a ball gown at a barn, or a flowing cocktail dress in the woods make for striking artistic captures. Moreover, your attire should compliment your location.
Dress up! My professional advice to couples is dress on the dressier and more stylish side. Often engagement photos are the first time a couple is professional photographed together. These photos might be used for Save the Dates, announcements, your wedding website or sign-in book. They will be a documentation of this very special time in your life and you want to look your best.
Make it special. Wear that killer cocktail dress that makes him drool and turns heads. Feel like a goddess in that long flowing skirt and flowers in your hair. This is the perfect excuse to look extra sharp, extra stylish and put together while showcasing the best of your relationship. Besides after an hour or two of kissing, cuddling and being together you will probably want to enjoy a date night or special dinner so why not look like a million bucks doing it!
Here are some insider secretes as to what photographs the best:
The engagement session accomplishes several things. First, It helps you get comfortable in front of the camera, as well as helps me get to know YOU as a couple. It's so important to me that you feel good about your session experience, and this really gives us time to get familiar with one another. Friendships really blossom during this hour or two! Plus, it's a great excuse to canoodle with your love. PDA is perfectly acceptable (and encouraged!).
Engagement session photos are great for save the dates and announcements, as well as your wedding website, reception guest sign-in book and family gifts.

Beth and Jimmy's wedding was held at my favorite venue of all time- The Ringling in Sarasota. It was a HUGE celebration and I spent the entire day in awe of not only their love but the complete and utter gorgeousness of the day! It was nearly impossible to narrow down the images- we were able to capture so many great shots.
Beth was not only radiant but completely overtaken by the joy of the day. She wasn't in the least bit stressed and had an amazing support system during prep time. Having such an awesome vendor team made all the difference- not a detail was neglected and it was a wonderful experience for everyone! Big shout out to Nicholle Leonard Design Studio for making it happen!
When Jimmy laid eyes on his stunning bride in her fitted lace gown and heavenly cathedral length veil you could almost hear the breath leaving his lungs. During portraits, he would guide her so tenderly with the placement of his hand on her back. It was incredibly chivalrous and romantic.
The reception at The Ringling's Cà d'Zan was fantastic (and gorgeous). We took extra note of all of the romantic candlelight - the gold and blue pillars were a beautiful touch that incorporated their color theme perfectly. The calla lilies were a timeless choice as well. The Bay Kings Band was epic (as usual) and the party was a blast. It was everything you could want in a celebration! Touching, festive and entertaining.
As it's been said, this couple & wedding gave me ALL.THE.FEELS. I wish Beth and Jimmy all the joy and happiness in the world. And thank them, from the bottom of my heart, for including me. Love you two so much!

I still find myself daydreaming about Margaret and Allie's destination wedding in Marco Island. It was an incredibly intimate, touching day that celebrated the special love this couple has for each other.
Every year I hope to shoot a handful of destination weddings, and for this wedding day did not disappoint! I adored their first touch - it was such a special moment and the next best thing to a first look (at least in my option)!
We loved Allie's look of absolute joyful emotion when he saw Margaret walking down the aisle. And when her maid of honor stepped in during the ceremony to blot her eyes, I exhaled an "awe"- because, seriously, what would you do without your girls?!
They leaped into each other's arms when it was time to seal the nuptials with a kiss. They made it count!
The newly minted Mr & Mrs casually strolled the grounds of The Rookery At Marco Golf Club & JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort hand and hand. Soaking in the occasion. Stopping along the way for LOTS of kisses.
Can I just say. Allie's attire was awesome- it was one of my favorite groom looks this year! His pale grey linen suit had just a hint of pastel lavender, which was amazing for the beachside wedding. His look was perfect for the coastal, elegant look they wanted- he managed to be quite dapper, yet casual. And he seemed to be more comfortable in a suit than most of my grooms. Ha!
The reception was intimate and romantic. The couple stayed by each others side all night and as the night concluded, Allie carried his new bride into the night, in a shower of sparklers.
Also, I have to say I send light, love, and prayers to Marco Island in the wake of Hurricane Irma. Our poor state of Florida took a beating and many people still have a long recovery ahead of them. The aftermath for many is heartbreaking and it is my biggest hope for the communities that suffered to feel whole again, as quickly as possible!

"When I saw you I fell in love and you smiled because you knew." How incredible is this quote?! This beautiful sentiment was the basis for Jaimee & Matt's Bakers Ranch wedding.
I met Jaimee when I photographed her sister's wedding back in 2015! You may also recognize the lovebirds from an earlier blog post abou their engagement session! It was so wonderful to be able to spend time with this family again.
Their venue is located in Parrish, FL- near Bradenton. "Our air-conditioned Ranch House is a Tudor–Style Building, inspired by 16th century Northern European architecture that gently blends with picturesque majestic oak trees and 3 very unique ceremony sites. Bakers Ranch is the elegant, romantic canvas that is completely yours! You can create any once-in-a-lifetime event from a modern day Gone With the Wind fairy tale to an intimate ceremony with elegant simplicity and anything in between."
It's such a charming location and right up my alley! And this wedding was soft, feminine and romantic.
I loved Jaimee's walk down the aisle. She was so overcome with emotion to see Matt. My heart swelled during that moment- because seriously, how lucky and blessed am I do witness this moment?!
The reception was elegant, yet casual. And I loved watching them dance with each other. They're so in love.
Their cake was amazing! Seriously, the intricate gold lace detail was heavenly and the glitter base was oh so fancy. I spent a moment or two fawning over it!
A big thank you Jaimee, Matt & family for including me for your big day! So much love to you two!

I happen to adore Alicia and Chris as much as I do Lakeside Ranch, so it was a perfect day for me! Alicia had a wonderful group of maids and they had a great time prepping for the big day. The light was heavenly in the bridal suite (which is actually in a massive house on-site that overlooks one of the many lakes).
Alicia was so excited to get down the aisle to Chris, and the look on her face when she did was priceless! They had such sweet vows and were just giddy when it was time to take newlywed portraits.
The decor was rustic elegance with accents of soft pink. The farm tables were the perfect touch for their family style dining. I loved the massive hay bails with their monogram. It was such a cute touch! The all white cake had crystal and rosette embellishments- adding just a touch of glam to the design.
It was a great joy and honor to photograph these meant-to-be soulmates. My heart is filled with gratitude and I wish them all the happiness in the world!

All of the decor they selected was perfect for Wishing Well- they had lots of pretty pink & white florals, paired with burlap and lace. It was country to a tee, with rustic vintage touches from the window seating chart and old whiskey barrel tables to the lanterns and select seating options.
Of course, Krystle's lace wedding gown was stunning! She rocked the fit and flare silhouette with her cowboy boots! And the rhinestone embellishment was just the glam touch she wanted. It sparkled in the sunlight and highlighted her beautiful brown eyes!
Krystle's entrance with grand- she rode into the wedding ceremony on a horse named Oreo! It was a magical, princess fairytale moment. My heart did a little leap in my throat as I watched Parker watching her. It was a powerful moment!
It was a joy watching these two celebrate together. They're a perfect pair and the day was everything they wished for. I am so blessed to have been their photographer (and now friend)!

When an engagement session includes champagne and a Rolls Royce, I know it's going to be fun. And Shannon and Christian's e-session was just that! Playful, magical and full of laughter.
The couple selected the Straz Center in downtown Tampa for their location. It has some great surrounding landscape and gave us waterfront, foliage, and architectural interest options. In other words, it was a winning choice! Variety is the spice of life, right?!
The couple opted for two looks- something formal (as you can see from that killer RR) and something casual.
I loved the special scrapbook they brought with them as a prop- it's full of photos and memories that the two lovebirds have shared during the course of their relationship. Christian actually used this scrapbook during his proposal, so it was THE most fitting prop they could use! The books and Harry Potter wands were an adorable touch too!
It was so much fun to photography these two sweethearts! If you're still searching for the perfect engagement session photographer + location- give me a call or shoot me an email. Would love to chat with you!
xoxo & blue skies!
For moments and memories that are special to you- picking a location that feels welcoming and comfortable is key! Christina did just that. Their family home was a great setting for this session. We snapped a few shots in their home, as well as their front yard and surrounding neighborhood.
Christina opted for several family style photos in their coordinating "bear" shirts, as well as a few solo and mother son photos in 'dressier' attire. She was so laid back and comfortable in front of the camera. It was a joy to capture this incredibly special, magical time for her!
Christina's son, Wesley is so excited to meet his new sibling.
Rachel and Dane are such a sweet couple and their wedding reflected their carefree love. They each love so deeply and passionately for each other and know how to laugh at life's adventures. They are truly the best friends that know they've found something really special in one another.
Rachel's beautiful wedding gown (the illusion neckline gown and embroidery to heavenly) paired amazingly well with Dane's classic gray suit. They both radiated so much joy. And the casual, romantic garden theme was dreamy and magical! They opted for no bridal party, which really kept the focus on the couple during the ceremony and reception.
I can't forget to mention that their vendor team for the wedding day was awesome!

Trina has great style- do you see those shoes?! Ah! So amazing. Paired with her fitted wedding gown- she was a true goddess (and her groom made sure she knew it too!).
The ceremony took place inside- the altar was defined with a beautiful alter made of sheer fabric, hanging mirrored glass that sparkled in the light and lush floral arrangements of roses, calla lily, and hydrangea.
The reception was a blast! The dance floor was packed all night and there was SO much laughter! Sean's toast did cause a few tears, but we promise they were happy! The overwhelming emotion and love was so strong. Truly a joy-filled day with magical moments experienced by all in attendance.
We loved working with Trina & Sean and wish them all the best!

Newlywed shoots are a great way to capture the after wedding glow on a much less restricted timeline (and an excuse to keep your amazing wedding day fashion on)! I love that we took our time to explore the nooks and crannies of Italy's amazingly magical architecture to find locations that were so stunning! This shoot was also a great way for Jackie & Dan to commemorate their first adventure as husband and wife!
It was such an honor to travel with this amazing couple and capture such a special time in their life. I have known Jackie for years and she has always been near and dear to my heart. Seeing how happy Dan makes her brings joy to my heart
Next on the bucket list is Greece! Who's down?
Lindsay & Taylor's Tampa wedding was as timeless as timeless gets. And we're not talking about just the color combination of black, white and glitzy gold! These two are so graceful, poised and classy. Their winter wedding was a reflection of their fun-loving spirit with all the classic details and atmosphere that they love.
They held their ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Lindsay glided down the aisle to meet Taylor in her fitted satin down with high neck and plunging back with pearl embellishments. In a cathedral length veil, so was a vision of timeless beauty (she reminded us of Audrey Hepburn).
Following the ceremony, everyone made their was to The University Club of Tampa. This prestigious venue has incredible ambiance and stellar service. They also know how to put on a heck of a reception. The environment was so cozy and warm (since the wedding was hosted in December, the club was decorated for the Christmas holiday). The food was also incredible- guested were "wined and dined" and then cut loose on the dance floor!
Lindsay and her mom are very close- and seeing them interact on the wedding day was so sweet. She was so excited for her daughter and soaked in every moment! And can we talk about aging gracefully? Lindsay's mother is gorgeous, and she looks just like her!
We loved working with Lindsay & Taylor and wish them a lifetime of good times ahead!

I love shooting at Kapok Special Events Center. It is a gorgeous venue and made the perfect backdrop for Danitza and Mike's opulent Grecian inspired wedding. It was romantic beyond words and left me in awe!
I had the joy of previously photographing the bride's sister, Cybell's wedding day as well. It was so wonderful to spend another magical day with this fantastic family.
The ladies were stunning in their plum gowns and the men were dapper in their black tuxes. Everyone was dressed to the nines and over the moon excited to watch Danitza & Mike tie the knot! Especially Danitza's Father. They have such a special, close relationship and you could see the pride and affection in his eyes all day.
The color combination was spectacular- plums, oranges, corals, red and soft ivory. The entire day's decor was truly AMAZING! Loved the sheer fabric draping for the ceremony and the lush floral arrangements atop each of the reception tables. The pretty purple-hued linen on the table was a great match the Kapok's marble floors and high ceilings. And the natural light is perfection!
Danitza was a radiant goddess all day- just oozing sensual beauty. And Mike couldn't tear his eyes off of her. Witnessing their connection and love was an honor and capturing it was a dream! Wish these two all the best the world has to offer.

Nothing says classy more than a formal black and white color theme. Between this ultra chic traditional selection, Catholic church ceremony and The Club at Treasure Island reception, Amanda & Kevin's wedding day was beautifully classic in every way!
Amanda incorporated her something blue by wearing gorgeous sapphire blue satin shoes with rhinestone detail. While Amanda was getting ready, she really took the time to soak in the moment and enjoy the prep! After her professional hair + makeup, she enjoyed nibbles and champagne. Loved the modern "Mrs" glass she sipped her bubbly from!
The groomsmen also sported a hint of blue - both the vests and tie were the perfect shade of blue to compliment the black and white theme. The simple Calla Lily bouquets bridesmaids carried were beautiful with the cocktail length mixed style black dresses.
The couple's reception was upscale, without being stuffy. The Club at Treasure Island is a great venue and we love the surrounding scenery. The boats are a fun backdrop and give the entire day a bit of a magical, vacation vibe!
A little side note- Amanda and I actually went to college together at the University of Tampa. Her wedding allowed us to reconnect and it was a wonderful honor to witness her forever happiness!

Their Fall wedding has all the makings of a magazine worthy event. Between Sarah's stunning wedding gown and the rich red/burgundy tones used at the reception, it was chic, ultra romantic and gloriously elegant. The pair also knows how to work a camera, and I don't think they had a single "bad" photo. Hence the over-share for this post! As if that weren't enough, Sarah and Steven's dog, Angel, is absolutely adorable and quite photogenic too!
The new husband and wife were glowing all day- and after the first look, there was no holding back the emotion. If they weren't laughing, they were crying happy tears. When Sarah walked down the aisle with her mom, stopping a moment to pay respects to her late father (they reserved a special seat for him in the front row, with his favorite ball cap), there wasn't a dry in the room (myself included!). The said their heartfelt vows, sealed their union with a kiss and then partied into the wee hours. It was a magical night filled with amazing energy. And such an honor to witness and partake.

Katherine & Nick's wedding at Historic Obici House in Virgina was an enchanting, intimate occasion that couldn't have been more fit for this couple. These two kept things uncomplicated but didn't skimp on the important details. A gorgeous location, beautiful decor, timeless vows and lots of hearty laughter.
I went to college with Nick at the University of Tampa. I met Katherine when she attended a small college reunion with some dear friends. I instantly LOVED her and we became fast friends. So of course, I was elated to capture their wedding day!
Katherine and Nick decided to not have a bridal party. Which is pretty rare these days. We have to say, it was actually really refreshing too! There was so much focus on them and it meant we had extra time for photos. Which I'll always be happy about! Their location really suited this choice and the no-frills couple.
They integrated a subtle wine theme into their reception - which we thought was really fun! The wine glass favors were adorable and the gold wine bottles were great vases for the pretty purple blooms! The large windows at the Obici House let is the prettiest light and when sunset fell- the ambiance was enchanting!
Can I take a moment to say that Harley was one of the sweetest little wedding pups pals I've ever laid eyes on. Seriously adorable. It makes me happy when couples involve their pets- and there is no doubt that Harley is an extension of Katherine + Nick's family unit!

If you've been on my blog before, you already know that I adore engagement sessions. If you haven't, well, here is your heads up! I love working with couples before the big day. It helps us get to know each other- I quickly discover which couples are camera shy, and who has a natural, effervescent, photogenic personality. Stefani is definitely the latter.
Seriously, how CUTE is she?! This goddess was SO comfortable in front of the camera! She rocked that red tulle skirt like no other and accessorized so beautifully with her deep red lip and bright blue nail polish!Ross is content to let his future bride shine.
Our backdrop was the University of Tampa. Also another favorite of mine- the have so much pretty greenery and great architecture. It helps me "mix up" the landscape of the photos without actually having to go anywhere new! It's also really convenient for many of my couples and somehow feels like home, even if you aren't a Tampa native.
I had a great time capturing this special time in Stefani & Ross' relationship, and I can't wait for their wedding on May 20th!
Trudy & James are such a sweet couple. These two love, love. And this day was all about romance for them! They picked The Regent, which I have quite a fondness for! It's a great venue with a beautiful outdoor landscape. The patios happen to my favorite! The smooth, glossy marble is so regal! Trudy has an air about her that fit in perfectly with the venue!
They selected gray, silver and white as their anchor colors with pops of red in the florals. We don't see this color palette too often, so it was a refreshing twist! We also loved their attire- Trudy's classic satin mermaid gown and retro blusher veil looked great on her! The men were decked out in three-piece gray suits with deep red/maroon ties, bowties and vests. They all looked so handsome! And the jr. groomsmen + ring bearer were a hoot! So much personality for such tiny people. Ha!
It was a pleasure to work with this entire group of people- they were so welcoming and warm. It was a great day and I wish these two sweet souls so much love and happiness in their future.

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a fan of horses. Because of this adoration, The Lange Farm (which is not just a wedding venue, but a working horse farm) is one of my favorite venues! I've been blessed to shoot two fantastic wedding at this gorgeous venue recently. The first was Becky & Blair, which I blogged about a couple weeks ago (you can see that post here). Second, was THIS wedding for Heather & Cody. Being a wedding photographer means that I'll often shoot at the same Tampa wedding venue multiple times. The familiarity is great, but it also adds an element of challenge that gets me really excited (finding new and exciting nuances each time).
I love how differently each of these couple's wedding turned out. The venue has several outdoor ceremony locations and two indoor reception venues- the variety makes it incredible for shoot! Heather and Cody opted for a homey, rustic feel. They couple has been together for years (and has an adorable son), and really wanted a wedding that felt welcoming, cozy and fun. I think they were quite successful!
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching Heather with the horse! Like me, she has an affection for this majestic animal, which really shows! From her bridal portraits to the horse drawn ceremony entrance + exit, she focused on enhancing the Farm's gorgeous equestrian landscape, instead of ignoring it.
Congrats, you two sweet souls. I'm grateful for you!

This maternity session with Danielle made my heart happy. The glow of a mama-to-be is a joy to photograph. There is so much promise and hope that comes with bringing a new life to the world. It is a precious gift to spend time with the strong, capable women that are growing tiny humans. They are embracing the challenge of bringing life into this world and growing them to become people. It's an incredible honor to spend time in their presence.
Danielle session was excellent! We had two landscapes for the shoot- a lazy olde Florida feel that exuded an effortless, beautiful vibe. It paired so well with her gorgeous sapphire blue dress. The second location was the beach! Danielle's light and airy lace dress was stunning! The rocks were a great contrast and the breeze created a subtle movement that translated perfectly in images.
Danielle was a radiant Mama to be with the most adorable belly- it was perfectly round and she looked like such a goodness- she carried it so beautifully!
This sweet mama excitedly welcomed her bundle of late last year.
Becky and Blair's Summertime bohemian wedding was everything you could hope, especially for the sunshine state (if you're reading between the lines, that means no rain!). They decided to have a traditional church wedding ceremony, followed by a boho style reception at The Lange Farm.
You may remember hearing about Becky and Blair's from this blog post of their engagement session. This dynamic duo makes my heart swell and it was such a joy to be there for their wedding day! They were SO happy. Becky spent the entire day grinning from ear to ear. I could hear her giggles in the breeze and it made my heart flutter with excitement for this special occasion. The way Blair looks at Becky every time she smiles will warm your heart. The way he gently places his hand on the small of her back, a gentlemanly gesture to let her know that he's there for anything that life will bring pulls at every heart string I have. The love he has for her is apparent in every moment of his wedding day.
We loved the bohemian vibe of the day. From the wildflower bouquets to the beautiful glowing light through Spanish moss at Lange Farm. It was laid back with sentimental touches and a hint of whimsy at every turn. The reception was a true joy-filled celebration with LOTs of dancing went well into the night.
The authentic romance of our bride and groom had us very shutter happy. We are over the moon thrilled for them and can't wait to see what life has in store for these amazing people!
Be sure to check out more of their wedding day on my Facebook page too!

Many of us may imagine fireworks when you find "the one" you're going to spend forever with. For Amanda and Jose- they were actually engaged on the 4th of July in 2015. They started their journey to Mr and Mrs with all the love and excitement (and fireworks) that new love brings and made it official almost exactly a year later! There is something about a Summer wedding that just feels so festive and carefree. Amanda and Jose really delivered on that!
Their chemistry is so obvious and photographing them made me so giddy! Amanda and Jose are both veterinarians and you can really feel that caring nature and easy "bedside" manor spending time with them. Amanda's a classic beauty and 100% goddess! Her incredibly posed presence reminded us of the bygone era that celebrated woman's beauty. He stunning red hair and knock-out curves left Jose speechless. We saw tears in his eyes several times as he was moved by her amazing beauty. There is no doubt that this man is deeply moved by his lady!
Everything about this wedding was amazing. And they really knew how to throw a party. Their reception was a blast! Between the fantastic music and non-stop dancing going on, we can definitely say there wasn't a dull moment!
Amanda and Jose it was an absolute delight to photograph your special day. And a HUGE thank you for your surprise post-wedding gift to ME. These gracious souls made a donation on my behalf to a horse rescue which directly helped and aided three rescue horses (a big passion of mine). It brought tears to my eyes and filled me with such gratitude. Their grace, altruism and mutual love for animals left me speechless.
I know I said it before, but THANK YOU for being you! I wish you the BEST in your journey as husband and wife.

Shannon and Jon planned their day to honor their love and truly celebrate their life together. They hosted the big day at the Italian Club in Ybor City- LOVE this venue!
The day was filled with sweet sentiments and surprises for each other and their guests. Throughout the planning, I would get little notes updating me on the next surprise or gifts sprinkled throughout the day. From the dances to extravagant gifts, to the drumline led confetti exit down 7th avenue and armored truck chrome limo, they sprinkled meaningful tokens of love every step of the day.
Watching their love and laughter was a magical experience for me. They are a joy-filled couple with the biggest hearts I’ve ever encountered! Not only are they filled with BIG love for one another, but they are parents to an adorable son, Bailey, who they cherish and care for in such a beautiful way! He was an integral part of the day and it was so sweet to watch.
During the ceremony, you could scan the room and see the happy tears flowing freely. This family is SO cared for and cherished. They attract lifelong friends because of who they are and how they are together.
The reception was a blast. From the surprise first dance to Michael Jackson, to the Princess Belle appearance (that included a serenade - a total first for me). The day was well worth the wait. (I am only allowed to say that because they have the best sense of humor.) ; )
Together this duo is truly magical- straight from Beauty and Beast (their words, not mine), you can see that symbolized by their cake topper! It was all the special details with a hint ( just a hint) of over the top awesomeness that made this day truly remarkable.
To say photographing Shannon and Jon's wedding was a pure delight would be an understatement. Never have I witnessed a couple with such grace, appreciation, gratitude, humor and undeniable chemistry.
What a gift it is being part of such a great day and developing a friendship as a result. These two are SO great and Shannon and I have become fast friends. We wish Shannon and Jon continued happiness and may you celebrate your love always. We know you will continue to surprise each other and show your unwavering appreciation for your love. And we can't wait to watch it happen!

Their ceremony was on the waterfront under the prettiest of fabric draped arbors. As the breeze gently lifted the edges, you could smell the sweet scent of salt air mixed with roses. It was delightful! As Angela made her way down the aisle to Andy, he was beaming. She was radiant. The wonderful ohhhhs and ahhhs from their guests when they saw the pair lock eyes was music to my ears! After sealing their vows with a kiss, they danced down the aisle as husband and wife. The rhinestone detail on Angela's mermaid gown glinted in the sun and you could just feel the romance!
We took our time with couple's portraits, exploring the various areas of the estate. After lots of kisses and cuddles, it was time for the party! The couple hosted the formal portion of the reception inside the ballroom and dancing under a beautiful tent on the grounds just outside. The water view was captivating, the weather was fabulous and the dancing lively! The couple took the time to embrace all the tender moments and enjoy each others company while spending as much time with their guests on the dance floor possible!
It was such a blessing to work with Angela and Andy. We wish the soulmates and newlyweds the best of the best in their marriage journey!

Jaimee and Matt’s Engagement session was sweet and sassy. We decided on three fantastic locations, two of that were near and dear to their hearts!
After capturing a few adorable shots of them in the park, we journeyed on to Henley Field. Matt is a baseball player- so naturally we had to go to the field that he loves to play!
Silver Moon Drive-In was where they had their first date. They laugh about the date because Matt forgot that the radio in his car wasn't working when he picked Jaime up. So as they went to enjoy their movie, they were stuck listening through the sound box and neighboring cars. But Jaimee didn't mind and Matt loved that she just went with the flow. It gave them a chance to begin their journey of love!
Jaimee is so full of life and her laughter is music to your ears. It just makes you happy and you can't help but catch a case of the giggles yourself. She's effervescent!
I'm so excited about their Spring 2017 wedding. I can hardly believe that it's less than 3 months away!
Every couple that we work with has a unique wedding. It seems to be who we attract (which we love)... but when we heard the details that Caitlyn and Christian had for their wedding. Well, we knew it was something extra special. And we were pretty darn excited! Needless to say, it didn't disappoint. The lovebirds put so much thought into each of the details and it truly created a memorable day.
One of the unique details that we loved most was the paper florals that Caitlyn incorporated in her bouquet and that Christian & his groomsmen wore as boutonnieres.
Also, can I just take a minute to talk about how amazing Caitlyn's hair is?! It's so shiny and LONG! And she picked the perfect style for her personality. She is such a gorgeous soul and her inner beauty radiates through her. Once she slipped on her dress, she reminded me of a Disney princess.
Caitlyn and Christian were married in one of the cutest little chapels I've ever laid eyes on. Christian's reaction to Caitlyn was one of the best we've ever seen! They had a first touch instead of first look, so his shock & awe was a priceless moment that all of their guests were able to witness. It was SO emotional!
After the nuptials, the reception was hosted at The Regent (this venue is fantastic- the architectural details and landscape are stunning). The decor was simplistic and thoughtful. At each table setting was a flower created with the dinner napkin (so cute).
I am so thankful that I was able to capture this precious couple's cherished day!

We love destination weddings! Whether we're traveling to them, or working with couple's that are hosting in our local area, there is something extremely magical about the entire destination wedding experience. And it truly is an experience for friends and family! Maggie and Danny are a fun-loving, gracious couple who wanted to host a memorable event for their loved ones traveling from across the globe (Poland and Chicago, to be exact) to celebrate their union!
It's hard not to fall in love with Maggie's bubbly personality. She embraces life and is easy to laugh. And Danny's love for her is so obvious. They're incredibly in-tune with one another and are what many would call a "perfect pairing." When they told us about their beachside wedding plans, we couldn't help but swoon!
Their first look was a special gift exchange and beautifully intimate. We adored their interaction and excitement for the ceremony to come.
Their beachside ceremony was a slice of St. Pete paradise! The white sandy beach, soft waves and blue sky was a phenomenal backdrop for their wedding vows.
They selected the Boca Ciega Ballroom- which was the perfect backdrop for their colorful blue and green decor. The tall floral arrangements were stunning- they really drew the eye up toward the fabric draped ceiling (LOVE)! The tulips in Maggie's bouquet had the tiniest hint of bright pink- which we think suited her sweet personality perfectly!
They created so many cherished memories during their wedding day and we were so fortunate to be able to capture them! We wish Maggie and Danny a lifetime of shared laughter and sweet kisses.

I had no idea just how magical the University of Tampa could be for engagement photos until Alica & Chris' session. The rain has a funny way of derailing the best-laid plans here in Florida- and this time, I'd say that our back-up was PERFECTION!
The leftover rain softly diffused the natural light and created a subtle drama that I'm SO pleased about! The couple was drenched in sun-kissed daylight. The rainstorm left the prettiest of remnants on the ground for reflecting pools. Yowza, all the heart eyes.
Chris' is a good ole country boy. And Alica is a sweet southern belle. The duo makes my heart happy. Being around them reminded me of these lyrics by The Judd's.
"I'd gladly walk across the desert
With no shoes upon my feet
To share with you the last bite
Of bread i had to eat
I would swim out to save you
In your sea of broken dreams
When all your hopes are sinkin'
Let me show you what love means"
They're in such a beautiful stage of their relationship, but still have an entire lifetime ahead to create memories and build their dreams. I'm so excited for them!
I use a medium-format Pentax 645 NII, a vintage camera. I can get about 12 frames per roll- so I'll usually go through at least 1-3 rolls per wedding when I'm shooting hybrid. That's not to say that is an exact number, but a fairly good average for my Gold Collection.
I've known Jessica for years through our shared passions for weddings. You see, Jessica is the lead wedding coordinator for L & L events. When I got the new that she wanted to hire Rising Lotus as her and Javier's wedding photographer, I was over the moon! I find it the utmost compliment when fellow industry folks hire me. They know ALL of the options available to them and still pick me. It touches me so deeply!
That said, I had NO doubt that Jessica & Javier's wedding was going to be fantastic in ever sense. I knew it would be beautiful because her vision and creativity is amazing, I knew that she was cherry picking an A-team, and I knew the day would run super smoothly! I was right about these predictions. What I didn't expect was how emotional I would be!
Emily was a goddess bride, and Chris was a ruggedly handsome groom- the combination made for some seriously fabulous photos! Emily has an effortless beauty about her. She's a quiet force in the room- which an inner beauty that radiates through her big brown eyes. And Chris' reminds me of Mark Ruffalo. He's got that playful smile and perfect salt & pepper hair. I just adore them together!
The setting for the day was the beautiful Hype Park Methodist Church and Tampa Garden Club. As Emily swished down the church aisle in her oh so perfect princess gown, you could feel Chris' heart swell. They had a wonderful religious ceremony, followed by a super fun reception at Tampa Garden Club. I love their the grounds; they remind me of an enchanted garden on the outside. I'll admit that any venue that has LOTS of greenery makes me happy because this one has so many fantastic options for types of greenery. The slightly tropical vibe in the garden makes it feel like a little vacation.
The light and airy space inside is a dream to photograph! The decor that Emily and Chris selected was great- I loved all the soft white fabric draping and pastel florals! It was just dreamy! Oh, and the pretty silver linen paired with lace on every other table was gorgeous! I love gold, but the pewter silver was such a nice change!
Oh, and can I just say. The food. Oh my gosh, the food was fantastic! You can't go wrong with Chicken n Waffles in the south, but man does Good Food Catering Company know how to do them RIGHT! The menu was diverse and delicious!
It was a joy to photograph these lovebirds, and I'm so very thankful to have been a part of the big day

One of my favorite things about meeting a new couple is hearing all about their proposal. I want all the details. So it was SUCH a treat to be in on this momentous occasion for Christine & Raj from the get-go! When a future groom contacts me about capturing this moment for him, I swoon. It is incredibly thoughtful and such a treat for his future Mrs. to be able to see it on film. Most women are so excited and overwhelmed by the moment they can't actually remember what was said or if they remembered to say yes (instead of just cry, laugh, shake or nod their head). The actual proposal is fleeting moment in the grand wedding event and it's truly a gift to be able to look back at the photos and remember when it all started. What lead you to the walk down the aisle and into a new forever.
So, of course, when Raj contacted me, I didn't have to think twice. I wanted to know where and when! I was probably as giddy and excited as him, minus the nerves! Raj's grand plan involved family and friends, a massive "will you marry me" sign and a romantic boat ride through downtown Tampa.
Obviously Christine said YES! And a mini-engagement session commenced! And can I just say, I LOVE that she was already dressed perfectly for the occasion and had her nails done! It makes the beautiful pear-shaped diamond on her finger shine that much brighter! And I don't think you can get a happier moment than the post engagement glow (other than the post nuptial glow, of course).
Raj, thank you so much for allowing me the honor to capture this day for you. I'm THRILLED for you two!
Every so often, we get to create just for the sake of creating. And that is exactly what we got to do for this shoot. This amazing team of vendors pull together some countryside inspiration that was nothing short of beautiful. The details stole the show and had my heart giddy with excitement.
First, let's talk about this DRESS! The gold and champagne colors are gorgeous and the silhouette is so refined and elegant. The creamy suit sported by our model groom? Yep, pretty drool worthy there too!
That pink champagne has me convinced that every wedding needs this bottle of bubbly for toasting. And the vintage china on the table covered in tiny little hand painted blooms? Sheer perfection!

And here are a couple of the FILM shots! DREAMY!
Your engagement is an important time in your relationship. It's the transitional period in your life as you begin to take on a new role for one another. Partners, teammates, life partners. When you've made the ultimate commitment to start doing this thing called life with one another for the remainder of this time on earth. Sometimes the weight of the wedding planning and what lies ahead and be overwhelming. As light-hearted as you may feel, sometimes it can feel pretty heavy too. And I don't mean that in a negative way at all. I just mean that marriage is serious business, and if you don't take precious time to just ENJOY this period in your life, you might stress yourself out. Which is exactly why soaking in every single second is so important. And for me, that begins with engagement session!
Being based in Florida, you can say that I don't encounter much of a change in elevation in my usual day to day activities. It is pretty darn flat here. And although I LOVE Florida, there is something about the West Coast that calls to my soul. I find myself dreaming about the golden hour (more on that later) and of the carefree lifestyle. I'm always in search of life's next great adventure, so when the opportunity to shoot a session in my beloved Lake Tahoe, I was thrilled! Little did I know that this adventure would make me break out in a cold sweat and find myself clutching my steering wheel for dear life. I guess you could say I have a tiny fear of heights (which I didn't know existed until this sesh- haha)!
That said, as the little flakes of snow hit Alison's eyelashes and dusted the shoulders of Dom's jacket, I felt myself relax into God's country. Things I love about Lake Tahoe? Oh, let me count the ways! Into the vast expanse of open sky, massive trees and endless lake view, my heart soared. The fresh air hit my lungs and I felt a love for this earth expand in my chest and the gratitude for this life burst through me.
As we hiked the rocky cliffs to find the perfect photo spot (which is pretty much the entire Lake Tahoe area), I was able to observe this sweet couple interact. Watching Alison slip her hand into Dom's and the powerful, warm embrace he held her in, you could see that Alison and Dom share something special. Plus, they're total troopers for trekking through the cold weather and snow flurries. But it is so THEM to do it! I had a blast and absolutely left a piece of myself behind. I can't wait to get back!
Some love is just written by the stars. Fate will have its way regardless of the path you take to get there. Nikki and Chris were such a testament to this adage. They lived on parallel paths for many years but didn't merge their lives until Chris took matters into his own hands. After the first date, the rest is happily ever after!
Nikki has such poise, and Chris can rock a man-bun like no other. The pair is such a sight to see- they actually remind me of Carrie + Big from Sex in the City! The addition of Nikki's adorable pup to their pictures was so sweet too! They opted to skip a "first look", and seeing the expression on Chris' face when he saw Nikki for the first time gave me chills! He was so smitten and surprised. And their ceremony was tailored perfectly to them. Later in the day, I'd catch their little glances at each other and I saw nothing short of pure adoration.
Oh! And can we just talk about the estate for a minute? Oh my goshhhhhh. The grounds are so very lovely and the second-floor porch? SWOON! I was walking around with heart eyes all day long because I loved it so very much. It has just the boutique feel that I happen to adore, and suited the couple perfectly as well. Total win-win!

I feel so fortunate to do what I love- and when that coincides with being with people I've known and loved for much of my life... well, you could say that I feel that magic is happening. I am so in awe of Stephanie + Neil for the life they're building together and the love they share. Their wedding day left me on cloud 9.
The pair customized their day from tip to toe... Stephanie's dress and ring, as well as Neil's suit, was custom created for them. I was swooning over Stephanie's silk Dupioni gown (it was truly fit for a goddess, which she 100% is) and Neil's Linen suit was so dapper! They opted for casual, chic, coastal wedding decor which coordinated with the day's vibe extremely well!
They pair hosted their ceremony at the gorgeous Hemmingway House in Key West, following with a reception at Bagatelle. After the cake cutting, everyone was treated to the most heavenly Sunset Sail. Just thinking about it again gives me goosebumps. It was coastal perfection!
The day was so emotional for everyone- me included! I've known Stephanie for years and I found myself feeling overwhelmed with gratitude, happiness, and joy for their marriage. The day was so very special. Stephanie and Neil truly embraced every single person in attendance. Giving special time and attention to each guest. Their most important being their daughter. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. These two are SO connected and in-tune with one another. I KNOW they're going to bask in the "newlywed phase" for many years to come.

This Tampa engagement photo session was such a delight to capture. This couple is carefree, fun-loving, adventurous and most of all, IN LOVE.
I'm singing a country tune in my head as I think about them. "Why does any man do anything in the whole damn world? Because there's a girl." That little ditty is sung by Trent Harmon and the quoted lyrics remind me so much of the love that Blair and Becky share- partially because this fireman opted for a rather grand proposal that included his firehouse's truck! That's no small feat and took quite a bit of coordinating to keep it a surprise.
This man is head over heels in love with this woman. And she's a bright light in the room when he looks at her. They are so amazing together and being around them just makes ME happy. As I've gotten to know this couple, I can't help feel connected to their genuineness.
The park that we picked was the perfect landscape for the outdoor loving pair. It has some great background scenery - the Spanish moss we have in Florida is rather romantic and our giant oak trees are heavenly backdrops!
Oh, and um, and can I just say, I've never met a couple that could rock camo as well as these two. Seriously, don't they rock the look? Becky's quite the sexy individual and she is 100% confident. When she slipped on the camo, my jaw dropped that she still looked that good. Blair is a LUCKY man! I think he'd agree ;)
And after all this waiting, their big day is actually TOMORROW at Lange Farm! I'm so excited and can't wait to share some sneak peeks with you! Stay tuned...

Here's a glimpse of Sade and Bernard's garden wedding at the Palmetto Club at FishHawk Ranch. Imagine a beautiful bride doing the Gator chop with one of her bridesmaids, the groom hamming it up with his guys. Picture a dear uncle officiating the wedding ceremony with reverence and a hint of mischievous humor. Imagine moments peppered with stolen glances and nervous laughter, sunshine filtering through the clouds and the bride and groom embraced by their parents after saying, “I do.”
The reception began just after sunset in a ballroom decorated with roses and candlelight. Little moments unfolded that we hope these two will remember fondly like: Bernard and his mom dancing to Israel Kamakawiwo'ole’s sweet rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow, the best man’s teasing toast, group photos with loved ones, an epic dance-off between guests and dancing the night away to Calypso classics music with handkerchiefs in hand.
A big thank you goes out to the creative team for making the day run smoothly including, Brenna of An Elegant Affair, Brenda from Brenda Michel Beauty and Righteous Image.
Sade and Bernard, thank you for trusting me and my team to capture the moments that created your wedding day story. We wish you a marriage full of happiness, joy and of course, blue skies!

We may have gushed over how stunning Sade looked on her wedding day. Okay...we did!
The guys hamming it up for the camera.
The joy on a bride's face. The love and pride in a dad's embrace. These are the little moments that make weddings so special.

Today's post is long overdue. In fact, the photos I'm sharing are from the last wedding of our 2015 season. A wedding in the woods. Mike and Tony’s wedding. Friends and family gathered beneath a canopy of trees to form a collective wedding party, all dressed in grey. The couple exchanged wedding vows just before sunset and were greeted with cheers…and their pup, Clark.
What followed was a grand entrance to Cold Play’s Yellow, a first dance beneath the setting sun that included everyone, friends and conversation under twinkle lights, selfies for #coolaro and #hastagpi, some moody Lana Del Rey, and heartfelt toasts that revealed the sweet, indelible marks Tony and Mike have left on those who witnessed the start of their marriage. Here’s a glimpse into their day.
Tony and Mike requested that all wedding attendees observe a grey and yellow dress code so that they were all served as part of their wedding party instead of merely being guests.
Mike and Tony's dog, Clark, was one of the first to enthusiastically congratulate his dads on getting married. How cute is he?
The grey color scheme included an ombre cake!
A wedding toast is a great opportunity for a roommate/best friend to spill funny secrets. Clearly, Mike and Tony didn't mind.

Flowers can elevate the look of a fountain and transform it into a beautiful welcome point for guests. With little effort, these kinds of details create a lovely atmosphere.
How pretty is this sweetheart table decked out with wispy ferns and moss?
I love how the food station was styled with drapey leaves, greens and flowers to blend in with the setting.
Chunks of bark were used to denote the food items; such a brilliant way to take cues from the organic backdrop!
Guests are definitely going to do a double take when they see a wedding cake suspended from a tree!
This floral swing not only adds a touch of whimsy and romance, but it makes for a beautiful setting for portraits. The idea here is to plan for opportunities to create a lovely photo moment and take advantage of your venue's best features instead of just hoping to stumble onto something nice on your wedding day.
When you view the outdoor surroundings as a room to live in, you can create reception lounge that's fun and unique.

The countdown is underway for Alissa and Jeremy's wedding at the Edgewood Tahoe and I can barely contain my excitement! My associate and I flew into town a few days before the wedding and I'm fairly certain that I'll be leaving a piece of my heart in Lake Tahoe. Nestled in snow capped mountains and lined with pine trees, the area's beauty and serenity is unlike anything I've experienced.
So when the opportunity came to do an engagement/couple's session these two, I couldn't be happier. And then seeing how Alissa and Jeremy are together...well, I just can't find the words. Alissa and Jeremy, thank you a thousand times over. Soon it will be your wedding day! Here's a glimpse of our afternoon chasing Lake Tahoe's sweet light.
Alissa and Jeremy's session started in park preserve near Round Hill Village.
There was laughter, secret smiles and flirting! These were the last days they would spend as an engaged couple and emotions bubbled to the surface.
We dashed off to Zephyr Cove for some photos along the pier. The park has been in operation since the 1800's and it's such a peaceful, pretty place to visit.
It's the little moments that couples share that are often leave the biggest mark.
A romantic moment with snow capped mountains, a forest and a lake as the backdrop...what a gorgeous way to end a portrait session!

We are hours away from Emily and Chris's wedding day. But first, here's a look back at their engagement session that took us to Longboat Key. Their chemistry leaps off the screen. See for yourself!
Oh, the joy of strolling along the beach during sunset with the one you love...

He'd told Jaclyn that he didn’t see marriage in the near future. Yet all the while Adam had been secretly saving for her engagement ring. They traveled to Paris, a dream getaway for a couple in love, made all the more magical when he proposed.
And so their wedding at the Royal St. Cloud Golf Links was a little love note to Paris. In fact, a mini Eiffel Tower sat atop the wedding cake. Jaclyn's father proudly walked her down a brick pathway to the garden where her groom waited. They exchanged vows surrounded by sunshine and loved ones. Afterwards, the entire bridal party darted off in golf carts for portraits. We caught the last bit of light out in the fields and along bridges that had us imagining we’d arrived in Ireland.
Friends and family gathered in The Royal Crest Room for an evening of celebration. A first dance on a fog filled dance floor led to heartfelt sibling toasts, a bride/groomsman dance-off and the newlyweds being serenaded. When it was all over, Jaclyn and Adam put on their sunglasses and dashed out into the night surrounded by sparklers and the cheers of those who love them best.
Thank you Jaclyn and Adam for inviting my team and I to document all the special moments that made up your wedding day. We wish you a beautiful life together and more adventures in Paris!
Venue: Royal Crest Room at the Royal St. Cloud Golf Links
Adam was rendered speechless upon opening Jaclyn's note and wedding gift. Hint: his gift involves travel.
The Golf Links' open fields and rustic bridge made this wedding party portrait feel like it may have been captured along a European countryside.
The last moments of Golden Hour were spent with the newlyweds. A big thank you to the staff who helped us get a few more precious minutes for photos before the reception.

The New Year and RLP's 2016 wedding season started with Andrew and Jeff’s wedding at the Vinoy hotel. Well, technically speaking, it was the second day of 2016. But I digress… back to Andrew and Jeff’s love story. You see, they weren’t supposed to fall in love. Funny how that works.
A newly single Jeff wasn’t looking to jump into the dating scene. Meanwhile, Andrew had plans to return to his home state after completing his degree. Neither of them had anything serious in mind when they met during a night on the town. But a friendship developed and they started hanging out. Nothing serious, they reminded each other. They were just hanging out. Yet somewhere between the carefully made life plans and inconvenient timing, they fell in love. It had become serious!
And so their family and dearest friends flew in from all around the world to celebrate this love, starting at the famed Vinoy hotel in St. Pete. Jeff and Andrew chose a Starship yacht as their wedding venue. We set sail before sunset. Open air. Rolling waves. St. Pete fading into the background. Best friend Brittany, officiated the ceremony that had laughter and tears—all from the heart. Celebrations got underway with a tear jerker of a speech by Jeff’s sister who thanked all his friends for their acceptance, love and support. A toast peppered with Taylor Swift song references had the dining room smiling and prov.
Jeff and Andrew, it was a joy to see you so sweetly overwhelmed by the love and attention showered upon you. What a way to start the year and your marriage! It's has been a treat getting to know you both.
Andrew and Jeff enjoyed some quiet time and mimosas together. They'd spent the days leading up to their wedding welcoming friends and family to St. Pete. It was in these quiet moments that the enormity and excitement of getting married bubbled up.
The Vinoy, which is listed on U.S. National Register of Historic Places
After photographing their loved ones at the Vinoy, we crossed the street for some portraits along the marina.
The wedding ceremony aboard the Starship yacht was personal and sweet...and more than a few tears were shed. These two were literally surrounded by love!
These two know how to have a good time and are such fun to be around.

We're starting the week with a Bok Tower engagement session that includes a cute picnic inspired by the Fourth of July American and our couple's work--they're veterinarians!
Amanda and Jose crossed paths while studying veterinary medicine. Eventually, they became friends and found they shared a special connection. Fast forward a few years to their new lives in Florida and a Fourth of July gathering with friends and family. As the sky lit up with fireworks, Jose surprised Amanda with a special question, to which she answered, “Yes!”
We met up at Bok Tower for their engagement session where a surprise picnic awaited this fun couple—yes, I love spoiling my clients. I believe it's important to invest in a couples' experience because without them my team and I wouldn't be able to do this work we love.
The color palette for the picnic was inspired by the Fourth of July’s red, white and blue. Little details pay tribute to Amanda and Jose's commitment to caring for animals. What followed was an afternoon of exploring the gardens at Bok Tower and the Pinewood Estate. Can’t wait to document their wedding day this summer!
It's wonderful when clients trust me, let their camera-nerves fade away and simply enjoy being together. Oh, and champagne helps!
We wanted to create an experience unique to Amanda and Jose, which led us right to their engagement story for the Americana inspired color palette and their veterinary work for the adorable details, like the ceramic pug and terrier pillow, for their picnic.
We wandered around the gardens to the Pinewood Estate home and little moments like these happened.
Amanda and Jose spent the last moments before sunset laughing, kissing and enjoying each other. Loved spending the afternoon with these two!

Today, we're sharing a glimpse into Aubree and Branden’s country-chic wedding. Casa Lantana with its woodsy setting was the perfect choice of venue for the couple who wanted a fun, laid back wedding in a natural environment surrounded by great light.
There were bouquets of pink, white and cranberry red roses, adding pretty pops of color to the day. Many of the details were crafted by Aubree with the help of her bridal party. Bridesmaids wore cornflower blue dresses while Aubree walked down the aisle in layers of billowy and tulle. And the bride wore boots! For the reception, her tulle skirt disappeared to reveal a sheath gown! What a brilliant way to get two looks with one outfit.
Branden and Aubree exchanged vows beneath a massive oak tree, laughing and holding back tears as friends and family looked on. And then they gathered with those very people that love them best to dance, celebrate, joke about college football and make the first memories of their marriage.
Aubree and Branden, thank you for inviting us to document the moments and memories that made your wedding day. We wish you every bit of happiness you deserve.

Aubree and Branden's country inspired wedding meant boots for the bride and her bridesmaids along with details in warm, vibrant colors.
Instead of a veil, Aubree opted for a simple floral crown to go with her loose updo hairstyle
The bridesmaids' cornflower blue dresses created a pretty color pairing with the red roses and blushed toned flowers.
One of our favorite things about Casa Lantana is the variety of settings the property offers, like this rustic barn. A perfect backdrop for a country wedding!
Massive oak trees draped in Spanish moss and a swing decorated with flowers equals wedding portrait goodness!
We dashed off to a wooded area for some newlywed photos where Aubree revealed her second, sexy wedding gown look!
Both the young and young at heart took to the dance floor. This crowd also had impressive line dancing skills.
The wedding celebrations closed out with a grand sparkler exit.

Taking the chance to say hello to a stranger can change your life. Just ask Mindi and Jason. Theirs could’ve easily been a story of an epic missed connection if she hadn't dared to boldly to tell him, "You look bored." the night they ended up at the same place for a second time. The rest, as they say, is history. A beautiful history that started with a first date and countless bug bites, falling in love, navigating long distances, a relocation or two, two pups, and creating a home together.
Friends and family traveled from all around the country, some from as far as Hawaii, to attend this wedding. And this wedding day started at the Birchwood Hotel with the suites alive with sibling teasing, bridesmaids laughing, and acapella versions of the Abc's and the Whip and Nae Nae. Sarah, Mindi’s bridesmaid, was overcome with tears when she first saw the Mindi’s gown hanging from a bedpost. She proclaimed Mindi to be a tractor beam of happiness. Oh, how right she was!
The entire day wasn't only a testament to how much Mindi and Jason love each other, but to how much they are appreciated and loved by their friends and family.
Mindi and Jason, the way you light up around each other is magical. There’s no other way to describe you together. The way you care for your loved ones is a reminder that it’s the people and relationships in our lives that makes every moment better, richer. Thank you for inviting us to document the start of your marriage. May your lives together be much like your wedding day—with you both surrounded by and feeling an enormous amount of love.
Wedding Venue: Straub Park St. Petersburg
Reception: The Birchwood Hotel
Wedding Gown: Vera Wang
Bride’s Shoes: Jimmy Choo
Hair and Makeup: Destiny and Light Hair and Makeup Group
Bride's Hair and Makeup: Melissa Collette
Videography: Longen Films
Cake: Corey's Bakery and Catering
Planning, Design and Coordination: Ideal Events
Mindi's Vera Wang gown, with its layers of Chatilly lace, was incredibly romantic and feminine. A pair of Jimmy Choos and a Monique Lhuillier belt adding the finishing touches to her couture ensemble.
Sometimes it's the quiet moments, like a bride studying her engagement ring before her wedding, that stay with us.
The wedding ceremony took place in Straub Park near the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront.
Mindi and Jason would steal loving looks at each other throughout the ceremony, often when the other wasn't aware. Sigh.
The elegant reception décor featured a long feasting table dotted with white tulips, hydrangeas and roses.
One minute they were dancing then suddenly the newlyweds were hoisted up in chairs for the Hora.

Isaidys and Billy's love story started in middle school. She had a crush on him and with some patience, time and charm, he finally got a clue. It didn’t take long before he knew he wanted to marry her, much to his best friend's shock when he announced his plans at a fast food joint. Together, Isaidys and Billy, defied the naysayers who thought they were too young to understand what it took to have a forever kind of love.
So he saved up what he could and bought her an engagement ring. His first proposal didn’t go as planned thanks to a rainstorm. Well, we do live in Florida so. . . The proposal eventually happened on her parents’ living room couch with beautiful words and promises for their future.
A few years later, after a Valentine’s Day dinner date, he proposed again, with a different ring this time, near the old St Petersburg Pier where they’d shared so many memories.
Their wedding day took place on an unexpectedly warm November day, there were hiccups, but the way they navigated the unexpected bumps was a testament to the couple Isaidys and Billy are together, and to the family and friends who love and support them. Their wedding day was one of laughter, celebration, happy tears, wedding vows with hashtags (an RLP first!), a metallic confetti bomb, and dancing the night away. What could be more beautiful than that?
Isaidys and Billy, to say it was an honor to be part of the start of your marriage would be an understatement. The love and commitment you have for each other is inspiring and makes our hearts happy! We wish you more happiness, more love, more growing together as you walk into this new journey of being married.
A pretty bottle of Daisy Dream perfume provided Isaidys' something blue.
Spanish moss and a gorgeous bride equals photo magic!
The moments shared with parents are quietly filled with so much emotion.
Billy and the fellas were looking sharp!
Isaidys and Billy's personal wedding vows included hashtags and promises to watch football games and go shopping for makeup. No wonder they were laughing!
The light near the lake and the pretty golden leaves were too goo to pass up for newlywed portraits.
The cake decorated with roses and pink accents added whimsy to the reception decor.
Isaidys and Billy had incorporated confetti into their engagement, so doing it again sort of felt like a full circle moment.

We met up in downtown St. Pete near the waterfront for their engagement session. It felt like an endless summer, with the weather refusing to act according to the actual season on record. What followed was an afternoon of chasing pockets of light around the art museum, exploring the park, and sneaking into shops as we got to know each other better. They giggled at every touch, like it was the first time, every time. Meet Sade and Bernard. They’re getting married soon and this is glimpse into how we see their love.
These two couldn't stop laughing! They're like giddy teenagers in love.
Mahal Kita means "I love you" in Tagalog.

We met up with Alison and Dom a few weeks after their beautiful Powel Crosley Estate wedding to do a bridal portrait session. A rainstorm had caused some changes to their wedding day and this session allowed us to get some more portraits in a different setting and at a relaxed pace. Here's glimpse of our time together with the newlyweds at Fort De Soto.
Alison chose an updo hairstyle similar to her wedding day and her makeup was slightly bolder version of the classic look worn that day.
Alison's wedding veil is a family heirloom that has been worn by several brides on her mother's side of the family.
One of the best parts of the session was getting to catch up with Alison and Dom. Just the two of them, with no wedding timeline to follow.
Fort De Soto's rugged beauty and this field of wildflowers provided a striking contrast to Alison's sleek and elegant wedding gown.
Who doesn't love a cathedral length wedding veil, especially one with newlyweds tucked beneath?

They first hung out on a camping trip with a group of friends. She stole his sleeping bag and quietly snuck her way into his heart. But she wasn’t ready to trust hers just then. So Cailen and Kevin's love story had a slow start built on a deep friendship. Fast forward to a surprise kiss and unexpected chemistry. Suddenly Cailen found herself looking her best friend in a whole new way. They wound up getting married on a beach but the story doesn’t end there.
After 362 days of marriage, the couple flew to Kevin’s hometown in upstate New York to renew their wedding vows in front of an extended group of friends and family who hadn’t been able to attend their wedding in Florida.
We wandered the streets of downtown Albany the day before the wedding and were greeted with cool October breezes, the hint of fall colors and historical architecture. (There may have been some cheesy/touristy photos taken during the scouting process.)
Since they're not a traditional couple, Cailen and Kevin opted to do a First Look at the capitol building, allowing us plenty of time to sneak around downtown for couple’s portraits before their vow renewal at 90 State Events.
They spent the eve of their first wedding anniversary, reaffirming their commitment to each other and dancing the night away with those who love them best.
Cailen and Kevin, thank you for choosing us to document this special day in your marriage and for your hospitality. We wish you a lifetime of love, friendship and happiness together. A special thank you goes to Cailen's amazing maid-of-honor, Laura, who graciously chauffeured us around downtown Albany so we could have more time photographing the not-so newlyweds.
Venue: 90 State Events
Planning and Catering: Mazzone Hospitality
Bridemaids' Gowns: Macy's
Albany's Capitol building, with its Romanesque architectural influence, makes you feel like you're walking around a European city.
How pretty is Cailen's blush colored bridal bouquet with charms tucked in among the flowers? Her wedding gown also had a blush lining beneath all its lace detailing.
The bridesmaids' bouquets consisted of pretty roses in varying blush pink and cream shades.
Cailen opted for a glamorous, Old Hollywood makeup look complete with bold colored lipstick. Isn't she gorgeous?
Cailen's girlfriends, including her sister-in-law, helped her with the finishing touches as she got ready. Laughter may have been involved.
And this is how guys dress up on a Saturday morning to watch college football.
The Capitol building was the perfect backdrop for Cailen and Kevin's First Look.
A couple having a sweet moment + historical architecture does a photographer good!
We took stroll across the street to Academy Park for more portrait goodness, this time in a natural setting.
.
Because of doing a First Look, there was time to visit the SUNY building for portraits. Drivers passing by blew their horns and shouted, "Congratulations!" the entire time . Albany, you're friendly!
This delicate shade of blush pink creates such a romantic and feminine color palette for a wedding.
Cailen and Kevin's choreographed first dance to Miley Cryus' Adore You was met with cheers.
Party time!
The 90 State Events building was originally a bank and the vault remains intact. It was the perfect spot to sneak away for a few more photos before the evening ended.

It’s hard to imagine that we’re just hours away from starting a whole new year! On our way back from the last wedding of 2015, my associate photographer and I started reminiscing about the places we’ve been to and the people we’ve met over the past twelve months. We decided a blog post was in called for to remind us of all that's happened and the goals we've yet to accomplish. So here’s a look back before we leap into 2016!
The past year marked a shift as I devoted the studio exclusively to engagement and wedding photography. As result of that decision we connected with wonderful couples and fell in love with photographing weddings at private estates and historical venues. We noticed a certain beauty and intimacy in weddings that took place in those settings and what a wonderful experience it was for our couples and their guests. And so a specialty, a niche if you will, was born: a focus on photographing couples at private estates, historical venues and incorporating scenic, natural landscapes into our work.
We started the spring 2015 wedding season by sneaking off with Morgan and Greg to Hollis Gardens for some photos before their reception.
In 2015 we took mini road trips across central Florida and chased natural light on behalf of our clients. Memories were created during our beloved Golden Hour. We flew to New York for a destination wedding, enjoyed downtown Albany's historical architecture and had our only taste of fall weather. (It’s December and Tampa has yet to let go of summer!)
Cailen and Kevin's anniversary vow renewal took us to New York but the architecture around us made it feel like we'd traveled to Europe!
Isaidys and Billy brought the glamour for their Ybor City engagement session.
A picnic in the park equals engagement session goodness.
We were blessed to team up with an incredible group of vendors and artisans for the Woodland Fairy shoot at Casa Lantana. They poured their hearts and talent into the flowers, food, linens and paper goods and styling, and thanks to their efforts the shoot was published by Ruffled Blog!
There were challenges along the way, late nights at the computer editing, new things we learned as we strive to improve our craft and the services we offer. But driving force behind everything we do has been our clients and capturing their stories in a way that conveys the emotion, beauty and romance of their wedding celebration. In a way, this blog post is a love letter them.
We surprised clients with dessert and champagne...and learned the importance of having a bottle opener on hand. Oops!
Every couple we worked with had a unique path they traveled to find each other. We met couples who found each other early in life and grew together despite being told they were too young to fall in love. Some of our couples endured distance and overcame obstacles to be together. And there were couples who'd carried each other through heartache and loss. We saw kindness, compassion and joy in the faces of their loved ones at every wedding. We heard speeches that made us laugh and others that left us teary eyed. We were reminded of the goodness of people and the importance of friendship. We saw indescribable expressions of love and pride and wistfulness on the faces of parents during every first dance. And we can't forget all the receptions where guests danced (or tried to) to the Waddle and got down to the Whip and Nae Nae.
Little moments, like this one of Mindi before her wedding, can be packed with anticipating and hope, transforming them into treasured memories.
There's something extraordinary about the new family bonds that a marriage creates.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all of my clients who entrusted me and my team with the honor of photographing the start of their marriage and the memories they created with their loved ones. We wish you love and laughter always..and of course, blue skies. Happy New Year!
]]>A wedding is a collection of people and stories that merge to create memories. In the fictional world, the best stories take place in settings that shape the mood of the moment and inform how the plot unfolds. Think of your favorite movies or TV shows and the environments they inhabit. Can you imagine Star Wars set in Cleveland instead of a galaxy far, far away? What would the Batman series be without Gotham’s injustices? Could Scandal be the same insane power hungry, political drama if set outside of DC?
This is all to say that a couple’s choice of venue is a key factor in the experience they and their guests will have when the wedding day finally arrives. Think of the venue as an integral character in your wedding day.
Over the past year we’ve found that private venue weddings, especially those held at private estates—places with historical and architectural significance—make for celebrations that are beautiful, intimate and unique. 'Tis the season to get engaged and with that in mind, we’ve created a list some of the best wedding venues in Florida to consider as you dream and plan for your special day. We’ll be updating this series so remember to check back in.
Cà d’ Zan: Built in the 1920s by John Ringling for his wife, Mabel, this opulent mansion on Sarasota bay was inspired by the Venetian Gothic styled palazzos in Venice, Italy. The 36,000 square foot estate which was designed by New York architect Dwight James Baum features manicured lawns and sits on the waterfront, making is a lovely choice for an elegant, outdoor wedding followed by a night of dancing under the stars.
Megan and Eric, enjoy the sunset shortly after their wedding at the Cà d' Zan.
Bella Collina: If you’re dreaming of a Tuscan setting for your wedding day then simply head to Orlando! The site offers several ceremony locations with indoor and outdoor options, some surrounded by panoramic views of nearby lakes and hills. You'll forget you're in Florida! The larger event spaces can accommodate up to 250 people.
The Powel Crosley Estate: In 1929, Powel Crosley, an entrepreneur who made a fortune in direct mail and radio broadcasting, built a Mediterranean style mansion along Sarasota bay in 1929 as a winter home for his wife, Gwendolyn. The 11,000 square foot home was named Seagate and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you’re looking to create an indoor/outdoor celebration surrounded by waterfront views, Mediterranean architecture, and Old World elegance then the Powel Crosley Estate should be on your list.
Alison and Dom's beautiful Powel Crosley wedding left us longing to return there soon.
Oxford Exchange: Located across the University of Tampa, you’ll find this well-loved meeting, eating and shopping space. Originally built in 1891 as a stable for the Tampa Bay Hotel, the building has been carefully restored and is gorgeous marriage between classic and modern design. A glass conservatory and skylights draw in natural light and the mix of materials (Italian marble, wood and brick) create warm, well-worn texture. This is a dream space for designers and photographers!
Casa Lantana: This private home is nestled in a lush twelve acre property in Brandon. We’ve been fortunate to photograph several weddings and even a styled shoot here and the natural light on this property is incredible! The estate can transform into a variety of event looks or designs due to its mix of open space, a rustic barn and wooded areas. If you’re planning an intimate or mid-sized wedding, Casa Lantana is worth considering. To top it off, proprietress Giselle Hindley-Wales is organized as she is welcoming and gracious.
Trees draped in Spanish moss and a swing decorated with flowers. Aubree and Branden's Casa Lantana wedding was full of country-chic goodness.

How do we describe Alison and Dom’s wedding day? It would be easy to call it beautiful because it certainly was all of that with its gorgeous setting at the Powel Crosley Estate, the blush colored roses, gardenias and a couple deeply in love. The word whimsical comes to mind when we remember the bronzed flamingos tucked into the floral arrangements and the ones scattered about the lawn, guiding wedding guests along the way. We could toss in words like elegant, romantic, or warm to describe this wedding. Yet somehow we always circle back to the word heartfelt.
Heartfelt.
Heartfelt because every moment teemed with genuine love and we not only witnessed it, we felt it. Alison and Dom, thank you for inviting us to document your beautiful wedding. You and your families were beyond welcoming and gracious. May your lives together be full of heartfelt joy and happiness.

Bronzed flamingos dotted the pathways, guiding guests to the festivities while adding a bit of Florida whimsy to the day.
The nautical details, starting with the invitation suite, were inspired by Alison and Dom's beach engagement.
Floral arrangements of blush roses, ranunculus, gardenias and succulents are such a pretty palette for a wedding. The flowers smelled incredible.
Alison created a keepsake for each of her parents, making this mother-daughter moment even more special.
Alison was an exquisite bride and such a delight to be around. Her classic style and simple updo were so lovely.
Oh, the look on her dad's face... Heartwarming moments like this one filled the entire day.
It's a privilege when couples trust us enough to be open and carefree while we photograph them with their loved ones, resulting in these genuine moments.
Dom got some lighthearted teasing thanks to his brothers who looked sharp in their seersucker suits.
How fun are those flamingo details on the bow ties and pocket squares?
Elegant Designs Floral Art Studio did a lovely job, especially with this wooden cross wrapped in vines and flowers.
The ceremony had to be moved indoors because of a rainstorm but Dom said having their family and guests closer by made it a more intimate experience.
Sealed with a kiss!
So often it's the little moments, like this one between Alison and her twin sister, that stay with you forever.
The wedding party were stylish in blue and fun to photograph.
One of our favorite parts of the wedding day is when we get time alone with our couples for newlywed portraits. It's so great to see them enjoying these first moments of being married.
The flamingos are back this time they're tucked into the tabletop floral arrangements! Love the anchor cake topper.
Party time!
Cheers from friends and family was a beautiful end to the evening.
They fell in love during college. Years later, they circled a special date on the calendar and waited to marry on a Saturday that would've been his parents’ anniversary. That right there says so much about the kind of people Candice and Ladell are and why it was such an honor to document to start of their marriage. Here are a few highlights from their Hollywood themed wedding.

The couple chose to get ready and do their First Look at Le Meridien Hotel in downtown Tampa.
Red roses added bold glamour to the wedding day.
Loved ones surprised the couple with a thoughtful gift basket which included champagne and monogrammed flutes.
Candice and Ladell opted to see each other before the ceremony, allowing them time to be together and have more photos. This turned out the be a great decision because a rainstorm rolled in that afternoon.
Just look at his reaction! There's nothing sweeter than a groom excited and happy to see his bride.
Gorgeous red roses were everywhere to be found at the reception held at Maestro's Restaurant about the Straz Center.
Thanks to the helpful staff at the Straz, Candice and Ladell were able to get some additional photos taken inside the theater.

There are countless moments that come together to make a wedding day beautiful. Whether it’s the bride’s choice to walk down the aisle in her mother’s wedding dress. Or the groom’s vows, written for his bride, about his hopes for their future, that move the maid-of-honor—who’s also the bride’s sister—to tears as she listens intently to every word spoken. And it’s the burst of laughter that rings out as guests watch the bride and groom seal their vows with a kiss…and a chest bump… and a secret handshake!
It’s the way a father and his newly-married daughter embrace because they’re overcome with the years of love and history wrapped up in one dance. Those are the moments that sneak into our hearts and become treasured memories. Those were just some of the moments that were part of Colleen and Alex’s wedding at the Orchid Garden in Orlando. Then it was onto a night of dancing that left us awestruck!
Colleen and Alex, oh you two… There’s such a deep friendship in the way you love and support each other. Thank you for inviting us to document the first day of your marriage.
A modern groom with classic style. Yes, please!
The ceremony had to be moved indoors due to a rainstorm, but Colleen and Alex improvised beautifully.
Those moments when a couple gets close and they absorb the enormity of being newlyweds are some of our favorites.
The couple opted for a cupcake tower instead of a traditional wedding cake... a tempting choice!
These two are amazing dancers and so are their friends, which made it hard to leave because we had such fun photographing them!

Happy Friday, friends! Do you have the candy and costumes ready? Halloween is almost here and, if you're in Tampa, so is Taylor Swift! Today, in the spirit of sweet treats,we've got a preview of Alison and Dom's wedding at the lovely Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota. Their wedding day was an incredibly heartfelt celebration. Throw in two wonderful families, sentimental details and bronzed flamingoes and it made for a day we will never forget!
Our fall wedding season got underway with a lovely wedding at the historic Powel Crosley Estate and coincidentally, Angela and Andy, plan to get married there next year! They got engaged last Christmas Eve and to celebrate this special time in their relationship, we met up with them for their engagement session near downtown Tampa.
We began the shoot at the University of Tampa's Plant Park and spent a summer afternoon exploring the downtown Riverwalk area. Right away, we noticed Angela and Andy's connection. It was in the way Angela’s eyes lit up when she studied Andy’s face. It was in his secret smile when she leaned in close. The afternoon ended with a surprise dessert table that included the yummiest, yummiest homemade macaroons by Casandra Vancuren of Ever After Vintage Weddings.
Angela and Andy, we are so happy you found each other and we feel honored to have been chosen to photograph your upcoming wedding!

Though fall is underway—well, not yet here in Tampa—today on the blog we are heading to the beach! We are delighted to share a glimpse of Jennifer and Clinton’s destination wedding at the Tradewinds Grand Resort.
The couple, who live in the mid-west, were joined by their closest relatives and friends for a fun, intimate destination wedding that doubled as a mini-holiday. The day was full of joking and laughter and a sweet first look before the ceremony, where Jennifer and Clinton exchanged gifts. The usual summertime rainstorms held off for the beach side wedding ceremony and we were treated to a gorgeous sunset when it came time for their newlywed portraits.
Jennifer and Clinton, we hope you had a fabulous time honeymooning in Mexico and wish you the very best in life and in your marriage. Thank you for inviting us to be part of your special day!

Beth transforms her would be wedding day by reclaiming the date with an incredible Trash the Dress session complete with butterfly wings, glitter and an amazing ocean sunset. She takes back the day and learns to see the beauty in herself. This session and Beth's words will move you to tears.
The following has been written by Beth to share her empowerment journey with you.
Beauty. Grace. Transformation.
Growing up, I was the little girl who dreamt of my wedding day. My childhood friends and I would cut pictures out of magazines and create vision boards our ‘special day’. April 3rd, 2015 was going to be the day I had been dreaming of all my life. However, the universe had different plans.
With a beautiful wedding dress on hand and an incredible photographer already booked, I decided to celebrate surrounded by my family, friends and a few incredibly talented and compassionate photographers. It was my opportunity to reclaim and rewrite the ending of a love story that ended abruptly, tragically and way too soon. It would be a celebration of healing, personal growth, forgiveness, self- discovery, the journey to self love and the importance of family and friendships during a period of grief. My photographer, Marilyn Shamblin was instrumental in the vision of my empowering Mess the Dress photography session. We decided on several key elements that we wanted to incorporate into the photography session.
I have always been fascinated by the struggle the butterfly goes through while transforming and how it's struggle is necessary in order for it’s wings to develop for flight. I found the perfect pair of butterfly wings to accompany my wedding dress and put them on to start the photography session at Howard Park in Tarpon Springs. The beginning of the session symbolized my transformation from personal tragedy to triumph. I was reminded of one of my all time favorite quotes by Maya Angelou. “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
Some of my best childhood memories were climbing in the trees and exploring in the woods surrounding my home with my best friends and brother. Being able to spend part of my session in the “woods” while climbing trees reminded me of my childhood roots and took me back to a time of peace and tranquility. To me, a tree is a pillar of strength and beauty, while its branches can be shaken when the wind blows, they are not easily broken. They also provide oxygen that is necessary to sustain life. So many of my friends and family have been the “trees” in my life throughout my journey to healing. Letting me curl up in their arms, reminding me to breath, reminding me to stand tall when I did not know if I had the ability to stand.
Capturing pictures of me blowing glitter into the wind to symbolize a release of the hurt and pain I had experienced throughout the my life was very cathartic. I chose turquoise and purple glitter, colors that represent survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. While this time in my life will always be part of my life, I refuse to let it define me.
We decided to end the session on the beach with my friends and family. I purchased Chinese lanterns for each of us to carry our wishes up to the blue skies. Unfortunately, the wind had a different plan for that evening. Reminding me that life does not always go as planned and sometimes there are better things just around the corner.
At that very moment, the sun was setting over the ocean creating a sea of oranges, pinks, and purples and the moon was rising on the other side of the rocks. I couldn’t resist the urge climb the rocks for a picture. It reminded me that sometimes life may be a bit rocky. Instead of letting the those times get the best of you, climb to the top of the rocks and look out at the majestic view that surrounds you. While one phase of my life was ending (the sun was setting), another one was just beginning (the moon was rising). As I stood on the rocks looking out over the ocean and it’s limitless power, yet peaceful nature, a calming feeling came over me. I realized that like the ocean tides, there will be times in my life that I will rise and fall. But, each day is a new day and the sun will rise and set again. The skies may be cloudier on some days, but the cloudier days provide for a more beautiful sunrise and sunset.
To end the session, I was unable to resist getting into the water with my dress. As I walked out into the ocean and laid down in my dress I was reminded of what a beautiful and vast world we live in and the that it is ours to explore. We just have to dare to be brave enough wade out into the waters.
To me, photography is more than an art, it is healing and empowering. I will never forget looking in the mirror at the end of my relationship and not recognizing the woman staring back at me. It was through this experience and pictures from this day that I have been able to acknowledge my external beauty and recognize the beautiful, brave and strong woman in the mirror.
For that, I am forever grateful. April 3, 2015 will no longer be defined as the day of my dream wedding. It will be defined as the day I learned to love myself again.
]]>What an amazing maternity session in my home-state of Michigan. Stephanie is one amazing lady, we met in High School and I was always amazed by her intellect, beauty and determination. She has a special shine about her and throughout the years has been a steadfast friend. I was so very honored to photograph her and Neil in celebration of her pregnancy. Stephanie can rock the baby bump!
We had plans to photograph in various locations, however, the Michigan weather had other plans. With the threat of rain we choose to photograph at her home in Pleasant Ridge. What a great choice! Such a great combination of natural beauty and intimacy. This great couple is passionate, carefree and simply gorgeous. Embracing chic boho style it was an amazing shoot! Wishing Neil and Stephanie the BEST! Huge congrats on your beautiful baby girl!!!
Love wasn’t supposed to happen for Jeff and Andrew. Who could blame them for thinking that way? The timing was all wrong. A newly-single Jeff wasn’t looking to enter the dating game. Andrew had plans to return to his home state of North Carolina once he completed his degree. Neither of them were looking for a serious relationship. That’s how things should have unfolded when they met during a night out.
Instead, they slowly became friends and started hanging out. Just hanging out, nothing serious, they reminded each other. But it did get serious. Somewhere amid the inconvenient timing and carefully made life plans, love had happened for Andrew and Jeff. We are so happy to have met these two kind souls and enjoyed every moment of their engagement session along the St. Pete waterfront. The shoot wrapped up at the old pier, which had been slated to be demolished, so we felt fortunate to have had the chance to visit the landmark one last time.
A special thank you goes out to the talented Cassandra Vancuren of Ever After Vintage Weddings for styling the beautiful surprise picnic in Straub Park. Seeing the guys so happy made us happy too!

When Ana and Alex went out for a walk around a local park, little did she know it would change her life forever. But her sister and cousin knew all along because they’d been secretly helping Alex plan a surprise proposal. About a year later, on a Saturday morning in June, Ana and Alex took another life changing walk. This time they became husband and wife.
Friends and family gathered to witness their wedding at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon. Then it was off to The Regent later that day for a dance filled evening. And we do mean spectacular, wow-inducing dancing!
Ana and Alex, your wedding was lovely and the most beautiful part of your wedding day was seeing how loved you are by your family and friends. It was an honor to document your first day of marriage and may your partnership be blessed with love and happiness. A big thank you goes out to your wedding party for braving the Florida sunshine with us.

We are days away from Colleen and Alex’s wedding at the Orchid Garden, so we’re taking a moment to look back on their engagement as prepare for their special day. They chose Amberly Park for their engagement session as they live nearby and it holds a special significance for them. Colleen, a wedding planner for C3 Promotions Wedding and Events, got the chance to be pampered while her sisters took care of the details for the photo shoot. Alex and Colleen were both members of Greek organizations in college, so they wore their jerseys as a playful nod to that time.
Colleen and Alex, while we look back on all you’ve come to mean to each other, we’re delighted to document the start of your future together. See you soon!
We are literally counting down the days to Candice and Ladell’s Old Hollywood themed wedding! The college sweethearts chose to get married on Ladell’s parents’ anniversary, in honor of his father. That meant they purposefully had to wait for the date to fall on a Saturday. And that right there says so much about their hearts!
We met up in downtown Tampa for their engagement session, which was full of style, sweet chemistry and playful goodness. We can't wait to see them again on their wedding day!
]]>While American Pharoah was racing his way towards the Triple Crown, Jennifer and Danny were racing to get married! And yes, that pun was absolutely intended. All kidding aside, this couple wanted a non-traditional wedding that infused memories of their previous trips to the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes into the day. With the equestrian racing theme in mind, Danny and Jennifer chose Tampa Downs as their wedding venue. Guests were asked to observe a dress code that included hats and bow ties. Jennifer even wore a custom made fascinator in lieu of a traditional bridal headpiece—its yellow color a nod to the Preakness Stakes.
The couple’s family and dearest friends joined them in the winner’s circle for the wedding ceremony which was officiated by Danny’s friend, Joe. Best man duties fell to Danny’s son, Cason, who almost stole the show with his fun commentary as the bride and groom exchanged laugh inducing personal wedding vows. We soon learned that that sense of humor is a family trait.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered beneath the Jumbotron on the race track to cheer on American Pharoah as he won the Preakness. The reception got underway with Jennifer and Danny dancing to John Prine and Iris Dement’s In Spite of Ourselves which had guests laughing at its irreverently humorous take on love. More than once did the newlyweds have to stop dancing because Jennifer had almost doubled over with laughter! Later that evening, Danny serenaded a surprised Jennifer with You Never Even Call Me By My Name while guests played backup choir.
The day was a celebration full of laughter and joy and the calm certainty that comes when two people want nothing more than to be married and build a future together.
Jennifer and Danny, thank you for the honor of being your wedding photographer. Your wedding truly reflected your personalities and the things that matter most. We hope you had a great time at the Belmont Stakes watching American Pharoah capture the Triple Crown. May you and Cason be blessed with love, happiness and laughter…and like the song says, big hearts dancing in your eyes.

Katie had had a rough day. When she got home, she shared the details of her day with her boyfriend, Joey, seeking comfort and release. She made her way to the kitchen, still caught up in reliving what had happened, and turned around to a big surprise. Joey was on bended knee with a very important question to ask her! All the frustrations of the day suddenly vanished as she screamed, “Of course!”
When it came time to plan her wedding, a sense of nostalgia led Katie to the Tradewinds Island Resort on St. Pete beach. The resort held special memories for her because she had grown up visiting the Tradewinds almost every weekend.
Katie and Joey’s wedding was a mix of edgy elegance—check out the tattoo of Joey’s lips below her clavicle—and bold colors thanks to a theme inspired by peacock colors. She envisioned a day that was fun, bold and beautiful. Their wedding was indeed all of those things and we were thrilled to be there to document it for them and their loved ones. You can catch a glimpse of their wedding trailer below and see for yourself.
Katie and Joey, we were honored to capture the start of your marriage and wish you a world of happiness. May you always find comfort in each other.

It's easy to get caught up in the visual beauty of weddings. But beyond the wedding dresses, flowers and décor, each wedding has its own set of stories, its own heart. At the heart of Lina and Carlos' wedding day was their love of family. So much so, that they hosted their relatives at the gorgeous Hotel Zamora in St Petersburg for their wedding weekend. Loved ones flew in from as far as Columbia to be a part of the couple's big day. After getting ready at the hotel, Lina and Carlos joined their loved ones at Pass-a-Grille beach where they exchanged their marriage vows.
After sunset portraits, everyone met up again--this time on Hotel Zamora's rooftop for a night of dancing under the full moon. And yes, it was as exquisite and fun as it sounds. Guests cheered each other on through round after round of limbo dancing. One of our favorite moments was seeing Lina and her friend break out into an interpretive dance number to Don't You Worry Child.
The staff at the Zamora couldn't have been more helpful and we hope to be back at this Mediterranean styled hotel again. The vibrant, modern furnishings paired with the Spanish design make this one sexy boutique hotel!
Lina and Carlos, thank you for entrusting us to photograph your wedding. It was a pleasure getting to know you both and witnessing the memories you made with the people you love most. We wish you a beautiful marriage and may your love continue to grow.

And to think it all started with a simple hello.
Mindi and Jason carved out time out of their busy schedules for an engagement shoot. Their session began at home with a few portraits of Mindi with her beloved Schnoodle, Daisy Doodle while Sammy--the couple's energetic foster pup turned permanent family member--looked on. We dashed off with them to Straub Park to stroll along the waterfront close to where Jason proposed and stopped by The Birchwood where they'll host their wedding festivities. The way Mindi and Jason are together made for a of sweet, flirty afternoon and we're so looking forward to their wedding!
A big thank you goes out to Christy Craft of Ideal Design Events for connecting us with this wonderful couple.

Sonia and Will's wedding was a whimsical nod to the roaring twenties. Handmade bouquets were crafted with broaches gifted to the bride, adding a sentimental touch to the day. Sonia's sheath wedding dress and cathedral veil were unabashedly feminine and glamorous. Pearl, lace and peach accents continued the theme.
After exchanging vows at St Ann's Catholic Church with their children, family and friends present, Sonia and Will were chauffeured to The Regent in a classic Ford V8. Talk about making a grand entrance! Heartfelt speeches at the reception made it clear how dearly this couple is loved.

High school sweethearts, Isaidys and Billy, are getting married this fall. We met up in historic Ybor City one afternoon for their engagement session, which began at the iconic Columbia restaurant. Then we were off to chase the light. They brought a certain Old Hollywood glamor to the shoot that played well with Ybor's historical architecture, making for a great time. A floral crown added a hint of bohemian flair to the session. It's a joy to work with couples who view photography as a creative collaboration.
Isaidys, it's been an honor to document this chapter in your and Billy's relationship. Thank you for your graciousness and support. It's been a delight getting to know you both and we couldn't be more thrilled to be documenting your wedding day!
There's something uplifting and divine in watching the connection between two people who love each other. There's an obvious love, friendship and tenderness in the way Megan and Nick move through the world together. They gathered their dearest friends and family under a massive oak tree for their morning wedding at Sunken Gardens.
The gardens provided a lush, tropical backdrop for the interfaith ceremony which included the signing of the ketubah and was officiated by their friend and our recent RLP bride, Morgan. The ceremony was heartfelt and moving with moments of laughter as Megan and Nick stared into each others eyes. Their love radiating from them and filling the garden. Blue hydrangeas and bright sunflowers added a cheerful touch to this heartfelt wedding.
It truly was a modern day fairytale as we walked the beautiful lush and tropical gardens with the newlyweds. One of the sweetest moments of the day was when a little girl saw Megan for the first time. She stopped and put her hand over her mouth out of sheer excitement exclaiming to her mother, "Look there is a pretty princess". It was the look that Megan gave Nick after that moment that was truly priceless. At that moment this stunning woman felt like a pretty princess who had just wed her prince.
There were so many special and enduring details throughout the day that help special meaning to Megan and Nick. Their "As You Wish" cake topper, their rememberance table and even serving chicken and waffles! Tropical garden with a hint of southern charm.
Anyone who know Megan and Nick will tell you as a couple they are written in the stars. They work together as a team, support each other and celebrate moments of joy. Together they are stronger complimenting each others strengths while creating a solid bond founded on passion, respect and mutual adoration. It was a pleasure working for this gracious couple. We appreciated their notes of thanks and thoughtful lotus gift. Again, such an amazing couple.
Thank you so very much Megan and Nick for sharing your special day with us. We wish you the best in marriage and know you will continue to dance through life together.

Stephanie and Danny's wedding came with a big bridal party full of lifelong friends, inside jokes and duck faces. The day featured a mix of southern charm, modern style, pretty white tulips and a playful gathering of friends and family.
One of the joys of photography other than the people we meet and the moments we capture, are the new places we discover along the way. This was our first visit to the Plantation on Crystal River and it reminded us of a southern spin on the resort featured in Dirty Dancing. Within minutes of walking around the property nestled along the river, we understood why Stephanie and Danny chose it to host their wedding. There's a southern charm and sense of serenity that feels welcoming when you're at the resort.
This bridal party was fun, fun, fun! They're all friends and that gave way to lots of joking around and laughter. Stephanie and her bridesmaids added secret gestures to a few formal portraits. We still have no idea what they meant but we imagine the ladies looking at those photos years from now and bursting into laughter. We'll take that every day! Danny's groomsmen took full license to have fun with him during portrait time. During the processional, the guys greeted Danny with secret handshakes while he waited for his bride. Guests burst out laughing when a groomsman strutted up the aisle and impishly said, “Hi!” Did we mention that this bridal party was fun?
Sentimental and thoughtful details were also woven into the day like: Stephanie carrying a handkerchief that belonged grandmother, the couple's wedding date embroidered into the lining of her dress, the bouquet of tulips that sat in a chair reserved in honor of Danny's grandmother and the bucket list of ideas that guests were asked to write for the couple. During the ceremony which their friend Justin aka Red, officiated, they filled a treasure chest with love letters and a bottle of wine which they'll open on their anniversary.
When it came time for the grand entrance at the reception, the wedding party floated into the ballroom with the Chicago Bulls' lineup intro song their soundtrack! There may or may not have been a groomsman who busted out some sexy dance moves. There may or may not have been a bridesmaid making it rain dollar bills afterwards. But when Stephanie and Danny first danced to Ingrid Michaelson's cover of I Can't Help Falling in Love With You, and tears rolled down her cheeks, it served as a poignant reminder that heart of this day was a celebration of love.
Stephanie and Danny, thank you for allowing us to document your wedding day and the memories you made with the family and friends you hold dear to your hearts. We wish you a lifetime of happiness, inside jokes and love.

]]>Morgan and Greg . . . Words fall short of fully encapsulating their sweet, heartfelt wedding day. Maybe it's because the little gestures, the quiet moments that tell their story. It's the way he looks at her with such open love and adoration. It's the way she laughs and lights up with him. It's the tender way they just couldn't seem to stop holding hands that lets everyone know how deeply in love they are with each other. One of the things we noticed about Greg was how obvious it is was that the three favorite women in his life are his darling daughter Jazmyne, his mom Sue and his bride Morgan. This elegant garden wedding will have you guessing their wedding venue!
Morgan and Greg were so eager to be married, they planned their wedding in less than three months! They wanted the day to be about embracing their love of family, so it was only natural that they chose her parents' Lakeland, Florida home to host their wedding day festivities. Even their canine child Dobey, took part in their special day, relaxing on the bed while Morgan got dressed then posing with the newlyweds for portraits.
The details of this wedding were so lovely! From the vibrant lilac colors in Morgan's bouquet, to her sleek wedding dress (which because of time, she bought off the rack. Incredible!) to the gorgeous mint and lavender colored centerpieces. But most importantly, a feeling of blissful romance, gratitude and family infused their day. For us, the true magic was getting to witness the smiles, the tears of joy and love from not just Morgan and Greg, but also their family and friends.
Our favorite part of the day was when we got the opportunity to "wednap" Morgan and Greg for additional newlywed portraits. So off we raced to Hollis Gardens and Lake Mirror, which provided a neoclassical architectural setting for this wonderful couple. Yes, they had an intimate garden wedding but their wedding photography collection was epic! The best of both worlds.
It was such an honor to photograph the start of this gracious couple's marriage. Morgan and Greg, we wish you a lifetime of happiness and passion. May you continue to laugh, snuggle Dobey and find magic in those everyday moments.

Jen and Kevin's wedding was a magical day of fun with friends, sharing joy with family and a true celebration of this amazing couple. Jen and Kevin are the perfect couple. Jen's infectious laugh and Kevin's lay back demeanor perfectly complement each other. When planning their wedding they wanted a day that was fun, relaxing and celebrated their love with close friends and family. Jen grew up in Vero and the Disney resort on Vero Beach was always a dreamy place where magic was possible. She remembers fondly childhood memories at the resort. Every time she walks in the front doors taking a big breath of the coconut and fresh linen smell remember great times and her sweet 16 party.
Thus picking their venue was easy. Their theme was inspired by their many trips down to Key West where they stay at adorable bed and breakfast on Duvall Street, spend the afternoons in lazy cafes and walking through the various shops. They picked the conch shell as their central décor and used the coral and dusty mint corals for a fresh approach to beachy.
Jen looked amazing in her flowing chiffon dress. As the doors opened for her to walk down the aisle she was surprised that her stomach lurched and describes having her moment. It quickly passed as she saw Kevin’s smiling… beaming face waiting for her. Kevin’s favorite moment of the whole day was first seeing Jen. He talked about how beautiful she looked and how he had never been so happy. Jen said after she had her moment of overwhelming excitement it was the best feeling walking towards her soon to be husband.
Even though it was quiet chilly on the January afternoon on Vero Beach hearts were warmed by the love of this couple. Jen and Kevin shared a special unity cocktail named after their pets, vowed their love for each other, shared a passionate first kiss and skipped down the aisle.
Celebration lasted while into the night. Dancing, laughing and sharing memories filled the chilled night air. They both were excited to travel to Key West for their honeymoon.
We wish Jen and Kevin the BEST. May you continue to laugh freely, love unconditionally and treasure each other always.

Andrea and Neil are the perfect couple. They have such amazing chemistry and together they create magic. Both share a love of nature, fishing under the sun and commitment to Neil's daughter, Jordan. Andrea's laugh perfectly compliments the twinkle in Neil's eyes when he looks at her.
Photographing this amazing wedding was truly an honor. The day was created with love as family and friends helped make the magic for this "DYI" wedding. The love, celebration and joy of their day was shared by all. Every aspect of this wedding from the decor, to food to set up was made with love by either the Bride and Groom or their family. It truly was an amazing effort as people simultaneously got ready, assembled centerpieces and cooked food. The heartfelt and perfectly executed details of the day were rustic nautical chic, heartwarming and beautiful. The food lovingly prepared was a huge success. The abundant sweets such as cookies and milk and mouth watering cupcakes were enjoyed by all. Above all the atmosphere was truly one of love and family. So much work went into making this a very special and meaningful day for Andrea and Neil because of how amazing and loved they are as a couple. Moreover, guests were deeply moved by the unique and special moments of the day including Neil and Adrea's vows to Jordan. Thank you Andrea and Neil for the opportunity to be part of such a special day.

]]>A Warning to Photographers
Not My Average Morning
On the average morning I wake up and grab my phone excited to see what has come into my email box while I was sleeping. Normally it is very exciting emails from brides, inquiries from potential clients and reviews from past clients. Today was not the normal - I received an email so threatening that my heart started to race, my face got hot, and my hands went numb.
The Email Threat
At 3:43 AM 2-24-2015 Mohammed Abdullah sent me an email threatening my business, my reputation and my livelihood. I have poured my heart and soul, thousand of dollars (my 401K) and countless hours (an average of 14 hours a day) into my photography business. Here was a perfect stranger threatening to tarnish my reputation. I think I saw red for a minute. Here is the email he sent me:
"I am submitting some scathing reviews about your business. I am using social media such as Google+, YouTube, ripoffreport and Yelp. Today I am working on an American photographer, [name withheld]. You will be covered in the next week or so. Your name and company name with words ripoff, bad quality, and scam next to it is what I’m working on. I do not want money. I want to hurt your photo business to weed out the competition."
This reminded me of a very particular email I received a couple weeks ago from a Jennifer, stating she was “a private investigator and forensic IT investigator offering her services in the event that I received negative comments about my business.” Honestly I ignored this email. This isn't the first time I have gotten emails for scams or "businesses" preying on my success.
On 2-27-2015 I received the second part of the scam from Elena Kagan titled Newborn Photography Session from [email protected].
"Subject: Investigation - Photography business and reputation management.
I’ve read online that many people in the photography field are receiving threats to their online reputation by a competitor. If you have already received such threats (or should you receive these type of threats in the future), please keep me in mind. I can positively identify the culprit and provide their physical and website addresses.
I work as a private investigator and I also do reputation management (pushing negative comments further down search result indexes). I am very experienced with cases like yours. If I cannot help you, you don’t pay me. Please let me know if interested. My rates are very reasonable.
A bad online reputation is like a stain that won’t go away. Sadly, we are judged by what Google says we are. If I see any reviews about your company, I will contact you again. I am here if you need me. Thank you.
Elena"
Interesting enough the real Elena Kagan is a United States Supreme Court Justice appointed from Massachusetts, appointed by President Obama and Judicial Oath Taken: August 7, 2010. I guess Jenifer changed her name to Elena.
Investigating this Scam
So my husband and I went to work investigating this threat and these emails. Here is what we found out:
This business terrorist is part of an extortion scheme that is threatening photographers from across the world with fraudulent reviews and blackmail. Throughout the United States, Canada, and as far as Australia, photographers received similar threatening emails. Seems like I was not the only photographer receiving both of these emails.
At the same time I reached out to several photography communities I belong to for support, guidance, and any additional information. What these cyber terrorists did not know is our photography community is very tight. We understand competition is healthy and part of what drives our industry. Many of the professional photographers I know operate from the standpoint of "there is a photographer for everyone" and "there is enough business to go around". Yes, we might be competing for the same clients but ultimately we are artists and professionals providing a luxury service. Our clients will pick the photographer that works the best for them or their event. Many photographers, myself included, work very hard to support the industry providing opportunities for training, empowerment and raising the standard of photography. The result was amazing. Photographers shared their experience, provided me with resources and the course of action I should take. I got helpful links to articles and resources to help defend against these threats.
Real Scary Bad Reviews & Libel
But the scary thing is these are not false threats. I touched based with a wonderful and talented photographer friend of mine who was victimized by this scam. Her photography studio was slandered in reviews and victimized by a horribly offensive YouTube video. She has been working since January trying to remove these reviews and salvage her good name. She thanked me for not using her name in my posts trying to educate others and wished that this would not happen to me or any other photographer.
In addition, my husband searched for this user name and found pages upon pages of fraudulent reviews for photography companies. We stopped counting at 30. Here is a link to just one of these fraud review sites and his practice of targeting photography studios.
The Scam
SLR Lounge published a fantastic informative piece about this scam warning photographers about this exact blackmail titled: Beware of New Bad Review Scam Targeting Photographers. Here is an expert from their article on this scam. In this section they talk about what happens next:
Apparently, the next email that is set to receive would set the terms of the price it would take to save her business’ reputation. An excerpt from realphotographers.com states they received this:
There are 3 viable options:
1) I do not recommend this but do nothing. Ignore the bad comments and hope your potential clients do not see them in Google search results (unlikely). There is also a great risk that others will see the complaint(s) and add to them anonymously. You will inevitably lose a lot of business.
2) Hire a reputation management company to suppress all your bad comments. Their costs are usually $1,000+ and there is no guarantee of success.
3) Hire me one time for only $299 (recommended as this is your service rate for only 1 customer.) I’ll convince your competitor not to post ANYMORE defamatory comments about you (with supplied proof). You can keep new and old customers. I will give you a full refund if the competitor decides to file the complaints AFTER we have made our agreement. This is not a shakedown of any kind as I am not the author of these complaints.
A bad reputation is like a stain that won’t go away. I await your replay and hope we can work together today. Thank you.
The photographer is then bombarded with negative reviews on agencies like ripoffreport.com and iformative.com from people with false accounts (which were traced back to Thailand).
“BAD REVIEWS” EXTORTION, THREATS, ETC. published on February 12 on realphotographers.com which details this scam and the steps that lead up to the extortion.
Why I Don't Negotiate with Cyber Terrorists
My whole reason for writing this blog post is to continue to shed light on this scam and provide resources for other photographers. We all work way too hard to have this happen.
Eden Bao, a newborn photographer wrote a very informative blog post about this scam titled: Bad Reviews Blackmail Scam Targeting Newborn Photographers. She details the exact steps of this extortion scam and the steps we can take to report such threats. On the comment section of this blog is a whole list of photographers who have received this email or been victimized.
After grounding myself, doing some research, and reaching out to my community, I went on offense. I contacted my local Sheriff's Office who referred me to the Florida Attorney General's Office. I filed a report with the FBI Ic3 including the IP address which can be found in the header of the email. In addition, I filed a complaint report with the FTC.
PetaPixel published a great article on this scam with tons of information. Here are the action steps we can take:
Special thanks to Eden Bao, SLR Lounge, realphotographers.com and Peta Pixel for your wonderful information and articles.

Taking readers behind the lens just a little further, I wanted to give you a sneak peek into my life, and the journey that brought me here. First, I am so very grateful for all the amazing people that have supported, challenged, and loved me. As I share with you some pivotal life moments, quirky fun facts, and some of the most cherished moments of my life. I want to be sure to thank all those that were part of the story of my life. Thank you.
My Passion: Since I was little I was always fascinated with photographs. I remember being five years old and sneaking down at six o'clock in the morning at my grandmother's house to see the family albums. I was captivated by how a photograph could tell a whole story in a single image. Photography has been a part of my life ever since. My biggest role model, spiritual teacher, photography enthusiast, and the most cherished person in my life is my Mom. I miss her dearly and feel very close to her every time I pick up a camera. She would always tell me I could do anything I set my mind to and supported my search for happiness.

My First Love: The first time I rode a horse I was nine years old on a family trip.
My love for horses continues and I have became very involved with helping to rehabilitate rescue horses. The past three years I have volunteered to train and take care of these amazing and resiliant animals. I wish I could say I was there to help them but honestly I learn so much about survival, compassion and spirituality from the horses.
Photographs by Gary Kitchen
Empowerment: I dedicated eight years to non-profit work, empowering women and supporting healing. I am so grateful for the amazing people I met during that time and truly am honored for to bear witness to the beautiful transformation of healing from trauma that occurs in peoples lives. I had some amazing experiences in the movement to end violence, including honoring Chief Jane Castor, coordinating transformational events, and leading the project to produce an empowerment CD. I learned the true grace of the butterfly.

Wishing Well Barn in Plant City was the perfect location for this burlap and lace fairytale wedding with elegant chic details. Alexis and Brad are a couple written in the stars whose loving relationship is truly in inspiration. They are simply... beautiful inside and out. Alexis looked like a fairytale princess. Her bright blue eyes twinkled with happiness and excitement as she waited in a beautiful field for her Prince Charming during her magical reveal. Their son Noah looked ADORABLE in his cutie little grey suit and bow-tie!
Every great fairytale has a horse, and so did this wedding, a beautiful palomino. This wedding had everything! Succulents, mason jars filled with flowers, golden trees and even moon pies as favors!
Most of all this amazing day was a celebration of love. Guest shared in the joy by dancing under the stars, enjoying the coffee and milkshake bar and wishing this magical couple the best future.
We wish Alexis and Brad the best as they continue their amazing journey as husband and wife. May you grow with love!

Gorgeous. Woodsy. Joyful. These are just a few words to describe this amazing wedding.
Kevin and Melissa might be the greatest couple ... EVER. They are gracious, compassionate and committed to being the best version of themselves for the other person. They have a secret way of communicating through a twitch of the eyebrow, a curl of the lips or just a slight pause. Their connection is magnetic and joy fills the room when they are together.
Where do we start with this stunning wedding? Melissa is GORG! Her dress, veil and the pine-cones in her bouquet all elegant and embrace the holiday spirit of this December wedding. Casa Lantana is a magical wedding venue, a secret gem of Tampa. Beautiful woods, gorgeous estate and even a rustic barn. Basically, a photographers dream. Between this amazing couple and the beautiful surrounds we are so excited to present this wedding.
Most important for the Bride and Groom was sharing their day with family. I think they made everyone feel loved as they danced, ate gourmet cupcakes and roasted marshmallows!
We wish Melissa and Kevin the best. May you continue to speak your intimate language of love and support each other unconditionally.

Hailey and Cordes are an amazing couple. They are both super involved in the community and very busy. Their relationship can be described as ALIVE. Together they complement each other very well, both extremely passionate people. Their conversations are playful, philosophical and always complimentary of the each other's strengths. To put it simply: they are a delight! I truly believe the universe somehow brought these two together and since then they have been inseperable.
Hailey and Cordes had a beautiful ceremony planned at Maitland Art Center, but Mother Nature had other plans for their wedding day. It was truly amazing how unaffected they were with the last minute change of ceremony venues and their changed plans. They were so excited about their wedding day, proclaiming their love in front of family and close friends, completely untouched by the rain. Probably the most enduring was Riley and the love both Hailey and Cordes share for Cordes' son.
Their reception venue was turned into the ceremony site by Confetti Events (another reason to ALWAYS have a wedding coordinator). They shared their vows in candle light and then danced in the rain.
What a truly remarkable urban with vintage inspiration wedding! We wish Hailey and Cordes the best. May you continue to enjoy long conversations, lazy Sunday drives to the next adventure and share in laughter.

Where do I begin to describe the profound impact this engagement session had on me? I guess I will start at the beginning. I met Jen my freshman year of college at the University of Tampa. I was immediately drawn to her kindness, compassion and the magic that was in her laughter. Her friendship was such a blessing for we would spend hours talking about our dreams and supporting each other navigating our college years. There were endless movie nights, trips to Key West and weekends at the beach. But my friendship with Jen was so much more than typical college relationship. She became a light during my darkest times. Her belief in me and ability to support me during some challenging times was truly appreciated. I cannot explain how grateful I am for her friendship and loyalty.
I was so very excited to first meet Kevin. I had heard amazing things about this man that had stolen my friend’s heart. Skeptically I couldn’t believe someone was good enough for such an amazing person. But all my doubt was shattered when I met Kevin during a University of Tampa unofficial reunion. I was first struck by the way he looked at Jen. His eyes filled with affection and never left her. Next I noticed how he touched her with such gentleness and tenderness. He tended to her needs, easily made conversation with her college friends and befriended me in the process. It became quite apparent to me that Jen and Kevin were met to be together. Match.com provided the opportunity for two amazing individuals in the small town of Sabastian Florida to meet.
I was ecstatic when Kevin proposed to Jen. He had her engagement ring specially made for her, timeless and elegant. I couldn’t wait to gift this special couple with an engagement photography session. For me it was a way to thank Jen for her years of support, her unwavering loyalty and the countless gifts she has given so freely to me by her friendship.
On the day of their photography session, driving across the State of Florida from Tampa to Vero Beach was an emotional drive for I kept thinking about Jen and Kevin’s love. She would describe their relationship as lazy Friday nights on their back porch, walks with their dogs and weekend get-a-ways to Key West. I would describe it as two souls that were meant to be as one.
The engagement session was a true delight. Kevin and Jen’s laughter filled McKee Gardens. The beautiful waterfalls, amazing flowers and gorgeous footbridges were the perfect backdrop for this magnetic couple. We incorporated Jen’s Key West inspired wedding theme into this session, highlighting the conch shell. Their joy, their passion and excitement to start their life together came through the photographs. I feel truly honored to capture their love with such authenticity and honesty. We planned a second location on the Jungle Trail where their two adorable dogs joined us.
Because of Jen's amazing friendship it truly was a blessing to be able to capture her so happy and in love with Kevin. I will always remember this session as being special. I was able to give something to a friend that had so graciously given to me throughout the years.
I truly cannot wait to share Jen and Kevin’s beautiful wedding photography collection from their wedding in January when their love was celebrated at the Disney Resort in Vero Beach.
Jen and Kevin's engagement session has been published in Swan So Sweet.

So in love with Laura and David's gorgeous pink and ivory timeless wedding in Clearwater and Dunedin. The beautiful St. Cecelia Catholic Church with its marble floors, stunning wooden doors and beautiful arches was the perfect location for this gracious couple. Laura and David are an amazing couple whose love is pure and captivating. Laura is a floral photographer and loves elegant details. Which showed in the timeless style of her wedding. She looked absolutely stunning in her Maggie Sottero wedding gown. Her cathedral veil was simply breathtaking and she took David's breath away as she made it down the aisle with her dad's.
There were so many amazing moments of this wedding. The beautiful ceremony, the heartfelt toasts and the pure joy of celebration as bride and groom danced with their guests. As a photographer I probably enjoyed our trip with the wedding party to Downtown Dunedin the best. The comic book lined windows were so fun.
We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness. May you grow with love and may your eyes continue to sparkle every-time you look at each other!

So much magic in this gorgeous anniversary session at Apollo Beach Nature Preserve. Aaron and John are such an amazing couple. John's sultry eyes, Aaron's charming smile and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Together they complement each other’s strengths, build an amazing life together and share the joy of creating memories. Whether sharing a moment of peace on a picnic blanket, walking hand in hand under the Florida sun or passionately kissing in the sea grass their love is undeniable.
Today Florida became the 36th state to legalize gay marriage in the United States. U.S. District Judge Robert L. Hinkle's ruling Monday that Florida's same-sex marriage ban is unconstitutional took effect in all 67 counties. For many gay couples this ruling not only gives voice to their love but also offers them basic human rights that have long been denied to same-sex couples. Couples from Pensacola to Key West are rejoicing with happiness as their right to wed is legal, recognized by Florida law. As you view these photographs of Aaron and John the love between these beautiful men is undeniable. Passion, beauty and love which transcends... embrace love.

Megan and Eric are a simply stunning couple and their wedding day was a magical time filled with family and joy. There were so many amazing moments throughout the day celebrating the love of Megan and Eric with their family and friends. The gracious Bride was truly breathtaking in her elegant lace and beaded gown. Her cathedral veil floated behind her as she walked down the long aisle of the Ca d'Zan to meet her handsome groom. Every detail of this wedding was timeless, elegant and reminiscent of a time when the Ca d'Zan was home to the Ringling's in the roaring twenties. The elegant white rose bouquets, the stunning centerpieces and the vintage lanterns added to the elegance. As the night went on the couple with their guests danced under the stars facing Sarasota Bay with the feeling of another era similar to Great Gatsby.
We wanted their wedding photography collection to honor their love, their family and also reflect the timeless elegance of their special venue. The following is a little history quoted from the Ca d'Zan's website "The Ca d'Zan was the home of the John Ringling and his wife, a couple from humble mid-western origins, Ca’ d’Zan stands as a testament to the American Dream of the Roaring Twenties. Inspired by and designed in the Venetian Gothic style of the palazzos that ring the Venice canals, this dazzling palatial mansion perfectly captures the splendor and romance of the Italy the Ringling's so loved. To honor its owner, they named it Ca’ d’Zan, “House of John”, in the dialect of their beloved Venice."
There is so much amazing history of this mansion. The Ca D'Zan fell to such a state of disrepair it was the location of Miss Havisham's mansion in the 1996 Hollywood remake of Great Expectations. In 2002 the mansion underwent and extensive rehabilitation to bring it back to it's amazing glory. To learn more we welcome you to visit http://www.ringling.org/

Epstein and Cooke: Too Gorgeous for Words
Downtown Tampa was a beautiful backdrop for Jen Epstein and Jeremy Cooke's elegant and romantic wedding in the harbor. Many know bride Jen Epstein as the gorgeous Fox 13 news anchor for Good Day Tampa Bay. Tampa residents wake up every morning to her bubbly personality and articulate professionalism. Those that have the privilege to know Jen as friend will speak of her dynamic personality, loyalty and fortitude. She loves unconditionally, lives with passion, and on Saturday, November 11, 2014, vowed in front of friends, family and her two adorable dogs, Kote Boz and Otis, to spend the rest of her life with her handsome groom Jeremy.
Jen, a stylish northerner, and Jeremy, a charming southern gentleman from North Carolina, met and fell in love in Tampa, Florida. They were engaged at Curtis Hixon park just days before Christmas 2013. Jeremy pulled off an amazing surprise proposal and made Jen the happiest woman in Tampa by asking her to be his wife. Together they are an amazing couple. Jeremy's adoration for Jen is truly heart warming. His love for her is expressed in the way he cares for her, the tender way he places his hand on the small of her back and the look of awe he gets when she enters the room.
In three words Jen described her wedding day as elegant, sweet and fun. This black and white wedding proved to be exactly that and so much more. Stunning white hydrangeas and roses, unique black bridesmaids dresses, and truly dapper Vera Wang tuxedos were stylish and timeless decor and attire choices. Jen's generous and caring nature led her to choose a beautiful lace and beaded fit and flare gown from Brides against Breast Cancer with proceeds going to cancer research and supporting survivors and their families. Jen completed her timeless bridal look with gorgeous black satin Betsy Johnson kitten heels, with a six pence for luck.
The perfect wedding doesn't exist. Things may not go exactly as planned but it is the job of a good wedding coordinator to make it a perfect day for the bride and groom. Bel Valentine talks about the moments right before the processional, "No matter what could go wrong such as the threat of possible rain or decor issues the most magical moment as a wedding planner is preparing the groom to walk down the aisle. It is the heartfelt exchange of asking him if he is ready to marry the girl of his dreams. Then being able to ask the bride if she is ready to marry her prince charming. The sparkle in Jeremy and Jen's eyes is unforgettable. The glimmer of pure joy in their eyes, the love amongst them, and their smiles is the reason I love what I do."
The harbor proved to be the quintessential metropolitan setting to highlight the elegant bride and groom as they delivered their heartfelt vows. Their two little dogs were dressed in satin puppy tuxedos and made the trip down the aisle to be greeted with a kiss from Jeremy. Mouths dropped and eyes glistened with tears as the bride made her grand entrance to meet her groom. The ceremony was so special and meaningful. Jen and Jeremy each wrote their vows stopping occasionally when the overwhelming emotion of their love brought a powerful pause to their spiritual exchange. The special moments such as the personal letter Jeremy sent to Jen's room while she was getting ready, the soft and poetic live music prior to the ceremony, and Jeremy's dad as his best man were so super sweet.
The reception took place in Jackson's waterfront ballroom with three walls of windows overlooking the lights of downtown. The candlelight illuminated this elegant room adored in crystal and hydrangeas. The party went well into the evening and was filled with dancing and laughter described by all guests as FUN! Joshua Smeaton of Music on the Move wrote about this amazing a couple and their undeniable connection, "They are an example of disparate personalities complimenting the other perfectly. Each sharing their strengths with the other, they are so much greater together than they could ever be on their own. It was a joy to see the affection they shared for each other. One trait they both share equally is graciousness. I lost track of the number of times I heard either one of them thanking someone. When it was their day to be fawned over, they effortlessly made everyone else feel special."
We wish this amazing couple a lifetime of happiness and joy. May you grow with love, find pleasure in the simple shared moments and continue your journey with grace. We could not think of two people whose love is more powerful.

Honeymoon Island
What an amazing beach engagement session at Honeymoon Island with Sam and Emily. Their love for each other is full of passion and respect. They have a cosmic magnetic bond that connects their souls and creates a relationship founded on chemistry, understanding and embracing life with a sense of adventure. It was such a delight to spend the beautiful evening on Honeymoon Island with these two beautiful ladies. Their champagne toast was so adorable and enduring. I think time stopped a little when they walked hand in hand on the gorgeous beach while sharing a kiss as the sun dipped under the horizon. May you enjoy these photographs. Embrace Love.

Roberta & Jimmy's Wedding
I adore photographing weddings at The Regent, the marble columns, beautiful details of the building is such a grand venue. I love incorporating the beauty of the venue in the wedding detail photographs. The soft palate of pinks and purples looked amazing against the gold tones of the marble. Every detail was elegant, bridal and stunning.
Words cannot explain how special this amazing wedding was to photograph. The Bride was absolutely stunning in her flowing chiffon dress. The groom looked dapper in his five piece tux. The emotion and feeling of family filled The Regent's grand space. The night filled with laughter, love and dancing. Beautiful purple and pink flowers and decor from Taylormade Wedding and Event Flowers. Music On The Move DJ's providing interactive reception fun with amazing dance music. Their up-lighting created a purple and pink glamorous ambiance. Guests enjoyed the amazing food of Olympia Catering & Events as created gourmet mac-n-cheese combinations at the mac-n-cheese bar.

There are moments that simply take your breath away, moments where time stands still but at the same time goes on hyper speed. In these moments journeys are transformed, lives find meaning and true love is revealed in its purest form. I had the amazing honor to photograph the romantic proposal of Jeremy Cooke to Jen Epstein. The happiness, excitement and adoration filled Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in Downtown Tampa. Two beautiful people created a timeless memory and I was privileged to capture these moments. Jen and Jeremy's love is captivating for it is true, deep and full of passion. I wish you could have heard her squeal of delight as Jeremy placed the stunning sparkling diamond on her finger.
You might recognize Jen Epstein from Fox 13 Good Day Tampa Bay, every morning her bubbly personality helps folks in Tampa wake up with a smile. Her love for her pups is only surpassed by her love for Jeremy. Together they are an amazing, dynamic and simply adorable couple. We are so very excited to photograph their upcoming wedding.

]]>As a photographer I am so grateful for occasions to capture beauty, love and the amazing details that bring elegance to a wedding. It is truly a privilege to serve as a second photographer for weddings. It provides me with the opportunity to embrace the wedding, atmosphere of love and capture the special moments that might be more behind the scenes. I am always grateful for Stephanie A. Smith and photographing with her is an absolute treasure.
This glamorous South Tampa wedding at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club proved to be a amazing evening for epic photographs. Katie and Drew are an amazing couple who simply glowed with love. Katie's one of a kind couture dress, stunning smile and elegance made her the center of attention the entire day. All eyes were on this beautiful bride as she walked down the aisle, vowed her love to Drew and danced the night away under the stars. Working with Stephanie on this special wedding I was given specific assignments. I was to photograph the gorgeous details of the reception venue, Tampa Yacht and Country Club and capture moments of the reception. The flowers, cake and outdoor tent were stunning. Exotic flowers of pink, coral and mint succulents created an eloquent atmosphere and scented the air with their natural perfume. Beautiful tulips and ferns draped the grand fireplace as friends and family celebrated the union of an amazing couple. The cake adorned with orchids and grooms cake made such a statement with their beloved dog portrayed in frosting. The reception was a grand event with a live band providing lively music. This wedding even had its own custom cigars being wrapped as the sunset over the bay. A highlight of the night was when the Bride and Groom shared a special moment together, forehead to forehead. I believe time stopped during that moment as true love wrote a chapter into this couples life.
I am so very thankful to have photographed this timeless, elegant and romantic wedding. To view photographs from the entire wedding I encourage you to read Stephanie A Smith's blog.

Preparing for your Newborn Photography Session
I adore meeting with soon to be parents to plan their Newborn Photography Session. The excitement in Mom's eyes, the joy in her voice truly touches my heart. We talk about ideas for the session focusing both on the creative posed photographs and lifestyle photographs of the family. There is always much to talk about regarding the session. First, we determine if they would like the session to be in the hospital for the birth or hours after the birth or at home. Newborn photography involves hours of planning, preparation and strategy as a photographer. I predetermine various poses, adorable scenes with props and possible angles to photograph utilizing amazing light for the lifestyle images. Having talked with the parents, I have an idea of what they like artistically and how I can best stage the photographs. I might get crafty and make a headband or search Etsy for the perfect beanie. Since, I photograph in the families home as a comfort for the newborn and to ease the process for parents, often I will provide an on-site consultation looking for the best window light.
However, on the day of the session depending on the baby everything can change and it is important to be flexible. The babies comfort is the first priority and I will not do anything that could potentially do harm. Some poses may be very cute on Pintrest but wouldn't be the best for your baby. Every newborn session is different and every baby is different. Some babies love being placed in a blanket while others love laying on their back. Some babies love to be swaddled in mesh blankets while other want to be outside with a hat. Believe it or not babies will tell us exactly how they want to be posed. Sometimes it takes hours to calm the baby down to get the various shots, during that time I work with the parents providing comfort to the little bundle of cuteness.
More importantly, the first few weeks of life can be very different from baby to baby. I reassure parents that they will get amazing photographs but sometimes complications might arise where it is important to be flexible. I communicate with the parents to decide what is the best time to photograph, taking into consideration release date from the hospital, eating and sleeping schedules, and any other specific needs the baby might have in this early time of life. Not only am I creating beautiful, sweet newborn photographs but I am also documenting this amazing time in their lives. Authentic photographs portraying the bond between new parents and their baby are simply priceless and can be captured weeks after birth if it is necessary.
Below are some suggestions for expecting parents to help prepare for their Newborn Photography Session.
Sleepy, warm and fed baby equals happy baby
Prepare: Calm parents calm baby
Wear light or dark solids

I simply adore one year photography sessions! As a celebration of life and family it is such a pleasure to design the shoot to reflect the personality of the family in a stylish manner. This little darling loves being outside so the park setting was perfect to match her loving nature. Mom and I had fun discussing details of the session ahead of time, planning the details, color scheme and the various props. She set up a Pintrest folder with ideas she had for the session. I love when clients have a direction and show me examples of what they are thinking. Together we created a fun, ruffle and pink themed nature session with balloons, mirrors and antique chairs. The result was magical!
]]>Andrea and Neil are the perfect couple. They are full of energy, love and life. On the weekend you will probably find them snuggled on a boat fishing. They enjoy the beauty of Florida's beaches and natural wonder. But most of all their adoration for each other is epic. Their attraction is magnetic. This engagement session was filled with light, natural beauty and romance.
I love meeting with the couple prior to their engagement session. I listen to them, how they met and the journey of their love. I believe it is very important to get to know the couples I am photographing. After we chat for awhile we begin to discuss the engagement session and how we can creatively develop it to reflect their personality. It is such a joy to get to know couples and help them create a meaningful engagement session.
Review from Andrea regarding her Engagement Session with Rising Lotus Photography:
"Absolutely loved our engagement photo session with Marilyn from Rising Lotus Photography! We had it at longboat key and she was such a trooper following us to the semi secret spot that we love. Hiking trails and high tide, she was most professional and enthusiastic. She captured our love for each other and the ocean perfectly! We hired her for our wedding immediately after shooting the engagement pictures! We received sneak peaks so quickly and had all of out photos in great timing. She also sent us a slideshow that had us both in tears. (The good kind lol) We look forward to having Rising Lotus capture all of our special moments from now and into the future with our wedding and hopefully someday growing family."- Andrea

Every newborn photography session is so very special and unique. Before every session I consult with the parents providing them tips and hints to make the session successful. I recommend the session be scheduled within ten days of life. During this time the baby is a little warm bundle of sleepy cuteness. However, sometimes circumstances are so that the session must be later. I work for the babies comfort and do whatever I can to make the experience the most pleasant as possible for the baby. I bring my studio, props and blankets to the baby’s home. With all the comforts right there I am able to work around the baby's needs. Whether the little one needs to be nursed or a comfort bath his or her needs are first. Often times we take breaks and tend to the little ones needs.
Little Jaxson was an adorable little baby who was very vocal and just couldn't seem to settle down. His amazing Mom and I worked together as a team, a dance of feeding and rocking, then we were able to grab a couple of shots. The little baby never tired as patient mom was getting a little worried. I stayed with mom and son, determined not to leave until we got some great photographs. At one point I looked over at her and said let's go out and get some fresh air. As soon as we stepped outside he quieted and fell asleep. He LOVED the outdoors! This little nature baby was so content laying in his basket by the lake in back of the house. AMAZING images of this content baby in such beautiful natural light. Mom was so happy with the finished photos and very amazed! Every baby is different and so very beautiful. So in this blog post I share some of little Jaxson's the most adorable little nature baby photographs.

Amanda & Shawn: Fairytale Romance
It is so beautiful when two soul-mates meet, fall in love and vow to spend the rest of their lives together. Amanda and Shawn are an amazing couple. Two spiritual, compassionate and giving people who embrace life and treasure their friends and family The ceremony was so very beautiful in the Tea Garden of the The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club. A whimsical fountain, cobblestone path blanketed with fresh pink roses and a romantic guitar player all create the atmosphere for this fairytale vintage inspired wedding. Shawn almost skipped down the isle with a huge grin on his face. His expression changed when he saw Amanda as he fought back tears of gratitude and love for his soon to be wife. Amanda gracefully glided down the isle in a stunning ivory lace sweetheart gown with her lace trimmed veil flowing behind her. Their personal and beautifully written vows brought tears to the eyes of those who witnessed their love. The details of the wedding were beautiful from the bouquets to the crown of pinks roses of the flower girls. Such beauty, such romance and such an amazing couple make this wedding truly a vintage inspired elegant fairytale wedding.
Wishing Amanda and Shawn a blessed journey as husband and wife.

Sweeter than a cupcake...
Adorable Isa turns one and celebrates with a yummy cupcake covered in frosting topped with a pink princess crown. Every One Year photography session is so very special to me, a testament to the joy of life and parenthood. The simple wonderment and experiences through a child’s eyes tell the stories of miracles and countless blessings. Photographing little Isa is an extra special treat for I had the extreme honor to be present for her birth.
I must admit I was always very scared of the process of giving birth. Listening to my girlfriends experience and the knowledge that I learned created a very scary story in my mind. I knew I wanted to be a mom but wasn't sure how pregnancy and more so the delivery was going to work for me. Until I was present for the birth of Isa when all those fears were crushed. I was so grateful to be given the gift of bearing witness to her birth. The whole process was amazing, beautiful and miraculous. I had tears in my eyes and a giant smile the whole time I was capturing the images of her proud parents, the little umbilical cord and the first holding. I noticed the endearing way Isa's parents came together in support of each other letting their love guide them during the delivery. It was so beautiful and forever changed my perspective on child birth. As soon as I looked in her eyes just seconds old, the pure, wise and completely trusting eyes of Isa I knew I was meant to be a mom.
Thus, from the life changing experience of her birth I have felt a strong connection to Isa. Please enjoy the photographs of her First Birthday photography session, for me she is sweeter than a cupcake.

As a photographer I take into consideration my experience as a Bride. I remember poring over wedding magazines, websites and Pinterest looking for the perfect details to capture the essence of the day. I loved the cascading waterfall of close-ups of rings, bouquets, up-dos and tablescapes. Every photograph seemed to tell a fairytale story, a perfect vision of romance. I appreciated our photographer and her care to make sure she knew what I wanted in my photographs. I also remember my frustration with vendors that simply “didn’t get it”. I take my experiences and apply them to how I work with my Brides, realizing every couple is unique and every wedding is so special. Making sure I understand the vision, passion and meaning behind their important choices.
I inquire about the details, their colors and the things that are important to them. Instead of developing a canned shot list I work with every couple to make sure their personality shines through in their wedding day photographs when creating their must have shot list.
Getting to know the couples I am working with is vitally important. I ask questions such as: How did you meet? What do you do for fun? How would you describe the style of your wedding? Do you have a theme? Also, I ask them if they would like to share with me photographs on their Pinterest and from magazines they like. Time spent and questions asked all help me create a couture, personalized artistic direction for their wedding day. I believe it is in the details, the captured moments where the essence of love can truly be photographed to be cherished for a lifetime.
So today I highlight some those details that were so carefully chosen the ring, shoes and purse.
